I had to drastically downsize my garden this year. No more farm:(. I decided I didn't need a lawn in the back yard, and each day it isn't raining, I am pulling it up...it was so fun to see an article in this issue of MJF, on this very idea, a garden instead of a lawn!
Oh, that's a different topic for a different post, sorry, I'm really excited....

I started a lot of the plants about three weeks ago. They seem to love the little indoor greenhouse. My green beans are 7-9" tall. Tomatoes not far behind. Herbs thriving...but I have over two dozen bell pepper plants, all new seed, different varieties, that have not germinated yet. Nothing has happened at all! I have never had this problem before. Any ideas? Should I try soaking a few seeds first, and try again? I will not pay $2.00 a stinkin pepper at the store. I'm better off buying starter plants, but I love to start my garden from seed. Starters are a bit like cheating to me, LOL.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Peppers need heat to germinate. I ususally put mine on top of a heating pad. Works like a charm every year!

I use a heat lamp or put a space heater under the table for peppers. They need lots of heat. The cooler the temps the longer they take. I like to think of them like the salamanders of the plant world, cold makes them sluggish, heat makes the run.

I put a heating pad under them this morning...hope its not too late? Praying they just take longer. I do four plantings of peppers, And I hate for them to already be three weeks behind!!! Our home is much bigger than the last, and cost so much more to heat (we have two HVAC's!!) we do not keep it as toast as our last home. I am wondering if that is what made the difference this year?

I have learned to be very patient when it comes to peppers germinating. Just when I'm ready to give up, the little stinkers sprout!

I hope you have a bountiful garden this year!

I am waiting on my peppers, too. But they are on a heating pad, so maybe not much longer.

What fun ideas! You all are awesome for sharing. I can't wait to begin. It's been a very long winter. Thank you all.
