So, for any of you trying to earn the Shutterbugs badge, you'll need to share some photos of how you're livin' the lifestyle. Let's do it here!

Post a photo or two at a time and give a little story behind the photo, please.

Since it is sapping time here, I thought that this photo from a couple of years ago was appropriate. This maple tree was cut down last summer for firewood. It was dying inside and becoming a threat to our home. The wood has burned well and kept us warm all winter.

We usually boil down the sap on our stove as this is the only tree we tap. It makes us about a gallon of syrup which we enjoy on pancakes or in steamed milk. Yum!

Speaking of firewood, here is the cord of wood that I split for my Light the Way badge. I love splitting wood! This wood was a challenge as it was full of knots and still green enough to be clingy. I love my woodstove...it's the best part of winter for me.

April and Laurie-

Thanks for your comments...I'm always pleased when a photo comes out like I wanted it to. My wood chopping project took months! I love everything about burning wood and we are just so happy to have our woodstove. So the whole time I was chopping I was thinking about knitting socks by the fire....that gave me my steam to keep going :-)

How about you post a photo, too!

These are the aprons that I made for my apron badge. One is mine, and the other two were wedding gifts. I have worn my so much that it has needed repairs once and will be due for more repairs soon!

Once you hit "upload" wait for a link to appear in your message box. This may take a couple of minutes.

I wanted the first picture I posted to be of my aprons. To me, when I put on my apron in the morning, I just get inspired to get things done. The "working" aprons hang right where I can just walk in and grab one. The "pretty" ones are folded up and stored in my hutch.

P.S I love the new way to post pictures.. so much easier!

This next photo represents how I've learned to make most of our foods instead of buying already prepared ones that are filled with all kinds of nasties..! I've also been using elbow grease for the labor.. no more electric mixer for me--unless of course it is a really stiff dough!!

I love the egg picture! I can't wait for summer and fresh eggs. Nice job!

PS. All the pictures are great not just the eggs! :)

Thanks, Kim--I love the egg photo, too, and I miss my hens. I hope to get more in a year or so.

Teresa...thanks for adding photos! This is my favorite part of the chat threads...I love seeing photos of what everyone is doing in their part of the world. I love your aprons...we are remodeling so I had to take my apron rack down and I just feel so discombobulated!!! I remember my grandmother's aprons hanging in her kitchen and there is just something homey about that!

Blessings to you all....more photos please!!

I'm glad you ladies enjoyed the picture. I only have 6 quarts left. We can't stop eating them. LOL!

Paula, I am so used to the weather here, I don't think I could take the heat down there. I grew up in Texas but I can't take that heat anymore either. If you ever get a chance to come to Alaska, you won't be sorry. It is so beautiful here.

Marjorie- Love the pickles! What an impressive first try at pickling!!

I have been having so much fun thinking of ways that I'm living the Farmgirl lifestyle.. some are not so easy to photograph, but like I said, it is really fun!
I snapped this picture this morning as I was loading my car from my trip to the grocery store. (people were looking at me rather oddly..!)
What you can see are my reusable grocery bags..never leave home without them!!
What you CAN'T see is how much I DON'T buy anymore..only what we need.."perimeter shopping"!

This next picture is of the eggs I purchase from a woman who lives around the corner from me. She has many different types of hens that lay such beautiful eggs. One day I hope to have my own hens, but until then....

I plan on blowing out the eggs and saving the shells for my Easter decorating. Then we will enjoy a nice quiche for dinner! I even read that one of our Sisters freezes her eggs.. I will try that too!
