What is your most favorite cookie recipe(s)?! I always feel like I make the same cookies over and over again (i.e. Chocolate chip, oatmeal, ect.) and would love to hear what everyones favorite cookie is and maybe get some recipes?! Hugs, Hannah

Good Morning - a couple of years ago I tried this recipe that I found in a recipe book from the library - it is a favorite of mine now, and I am always asked for the recipe.
Gingersnap Cookies
3/4 cup butter (must use butter) 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1 egg, well beaten 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cloves Sugar for dipping
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, thoroughly cream the butter and sugar. Add the molasses and egg and blend well. Add the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, and blend until smooth. Roll into small balls and dip in sugar. Flatten (I use a glass bottom dipped in sugar) the balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets (I used parchment on my cookie sheet). Bake for 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from the sheets and cool on wire racks.
I always double the batch and just refrigerate until I have time to bake, dough keeps nicely in the refrigerator for 2 - 3 days.

I am from St. Louis MO and we are known for our Gooey Butter Cake, Yum. Paula Deene makes a good Gooey Butter Cake as well. But, I have Gooey Butter Cookie recipe I will share with any one who wants it. A very easy recipe and the cookies are yummy.

How do I love to bake cookies? Let me count the ways,..... I have some favorites, but all my kids have their own favorites from my worn recipe book, too. I love a recipe for large, soft ginger spice cookies that I found around Christmastime. Also a new one for chocolate biscotti was a huge winner (and not too hard!). Let me know if you want one of these. Oh, my gosh, Debbie! I can't believe you said butter cake! I have not seen (or eaten) that since I was growing up in Philly! Oh, it's just so delicious, and so bad for you! I would LOVE if you could share your recipe! Yay - time to bake! ---L |

Hello Lisa and everyone. Okay here it is: Gooey Butter Cookies 1 Stick of butter 1 Package of Cream Cheese 1 Egg 1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla 1 Package of Yellow Cake Mix-Butter Recipe Cooking Spray Powdered Sugar Cream Butter, Cream Cheese, Egg, Vanilla together in a large bow. Then add cake mix. Chill dough for 30 minutes. Turn on oven to 375 degrees. Scoop dough by teaspoon into into Powdered Sugar, roll into balls, and place on a sprayed cookie sheet (even if it is a nonstick-use a little cooking spray) Cook for approx 12-14 minutes, or until tops just start to turn golden. Those sound great, Deb! I printed that off for maybe some weekend baking.
I have to admit, I'm not much of a cookie baker. I like them ok, but I'd much rather have ice cream :) When I do, though, I make gingersnaps from a recipe that's from the 1890's and they're wonderful.
My husband and I can't really "agree" on a good family cookie because he needs chocolate, I don't. I like fruit, he doesn't. So, I just stick with the gingersnaps!

Thank you sooooooo much! I can't wait to make the butter cookies, they sound pretty easy. Just in case it sounded too healthy - a stick of butter AND a package of cream cheese?! Debbie, you make me actually GLAD that I gave up chocolate for Lent - I can have these instead!! Gail, I can't wait to make the gingersnaps - yum! I love ginger cookies! See? Also, no chocolate! Sharon, that sounds wonderful!!!! I do love chocolate and ginger together...I always add crystallized ginger to that old gingersnap recipe and it's such a welcome addition to get that pop of flavor in a bite.

Thank you for that recipe, the old ones are the best ones! I will bake this weekend with my daughter (and maybe my son!). Y'know, there's alot to be said for butter and the other finer foods in life! My great-grandfather lived to be 98 and he had coffee and eggs every morning! We can really learn alot. So let's eat more cookies! ---L |
