Just heard on the news that they're putting a flood warning out from 7pm-7am for most of central/western KY so far-not sure how far west it's going, but they're talking another 3 inches! All our ponds are still full from the last two big rains, and our cistern is just about overflowing-I'll need to get some rain barrels!

Y'all should have enough water to last all summer. We are a bit short here but the rain is headed our way for the weekend. I hope my heifer waits to have her calf til next week! I hope y'all are nice and cozy inside with that cute little baby. Stay safe.

It's pouring again in Louisville today, Megan. I don't even like to cross the bridge over the Ohio River to get to Indiana. It looks like the water is coming too close to the road under me. The floodgates went up when we had a big rain last weekend and here we go with another 2 - 3 inches again. And more predicted for the upcoming week. Yuck!

We must have been in the same weather system as y'all were. It rained all day and all night. I thought we were going to float away. I have streams and ponds now. And tons of sopping wet mud. It reminded me of a movie I saw a LONG time ago. It was a Sci-Fi movie about a bunch of kids living on a faraway planet and it rained every day except one. Then the sun came out and shone all day. But this one girl got locked in a closet the whole day. Can't remember anything else about it but that. That's the way I felt yesterday.

I hope it's stopped up there. It looks like we haven't seen the last of it here. And we planted fescue Friday. My field was under water for a long time. All the seeds probably floated away.

Ihope everything is alright down your way. We have had rain and snow off and on. Last Monday we received three feet of snow. It was beautiful! On Wednesday we started to have rain off and on all day. There were flood warnings in Montpelier for all day Thursday into Friday. If the ice jams the river then the city floods. In 1992 there was a whopper of a flood and the stores in the downtown lost thousands of dollars in merchandise.

We live up high enough that the water does not bother us. We have in our feed for the animals and our freezers are full. If the electricity goes out we have a woodstove to keep warm and a holding tank for water in the basement.

I have seen the flood walls once in Ceredo, West Virginia where I have relatives. They are impressive. I wondered why people continue to live so close to the rivers and them try to contain them.

Good Luck.

Holly
