Today would have been the day to take them in but now I have 2 more weeks. I wish now I had kept this date. I don't know if they will get much bigger in just 2 weeks. But I will be able to feed them lots of acorns and apples and good stuff. I sure hope all this was worth it. They have torn up the front part of the goat yard. It's a muddy mess right now. It's been raining all weekend and now supposed to rain all week.
Sherrye, have you gotten your meat back yet? I bet it will be so good. I bought some porkchops from the slaughterhouse last week. They raise their own hogs. I love the bacon. The chops are good but not very tender. I hope mine are better.
7 more days to go!!!! Just 14 more buckets of feed. I was at the place where we got the pigs yesterday. They still had 8 pigs from when mine were born. There's still look like babies. They were so small. Mine are st least close to 200 pounds. Theres are on pasture though. And they had 2 sows that had just had a bunch of piglets last week. They are so cute when they are little. All pink and fluffy.
I have not let them out since last week. I have been giving them lots of grass and acorns and whey. They are doing really good on all that.

Sherrye, I added up all the feed store receipts that I have and for the bread store plus the pig and the 11 gallons of whey. It came to $254.00. That's what I have spent. Plus I think I didn't add the last 150 pounds I got last week, which would bring it up $30.00 more dollars. That's just my part. That's not counting my time feeding and caring for them the past 3 months. Not too bad really. I will see how much meat I get them figure what they cost per pound. I just got some more good scraps for them. Plus the milk. They should be really good. Ok, I just added up how many bags I have gotten and it's 15. So 750 pounds from me. I will have to ask Allen how many bags they bought. 7 or 9, I think. That would be about 1200 pounds then. Plus all the bread and scraps they ate.
I would hate for my freezers to break down right now. I have the heifer in my friend's freezer right now. Mine are pretty full.
We are going to get hit with a storm here shortly. It's been really windy here all day and it's hot. Now we are supposed to have thunder storms.

it sounds like you did pretty good on feed. i am concerned about my freezers also. 2 quit this last year. i am trying to decide if i can afford a new one. waiting till all my pig money comes in to decide. the acorns are supposed to make the meat sweet.
