Okay my DH's friend gave me this 5 gallon old glass bottle. Remember when the water bottles were glass now they are plastic. So now what should I do with this big old glass bottle? Any Ideals?

Fill it with loose change. Or make a terrarium that lays on it's side.

Dorinda - your not a dummy a lot of people ask that questions. Mead is a fermented honey wine - made primarily with honey and water. Then there are varieties with herbs, fruits, etc. We currently have a 6.5 gal glass bottle that we're making raspberry mead in. 6.5 gallons of mead took 15 pounds of honey. You will see it frequently at Renaissance faires and specialty stores carry it.
If you have a brewing supply store around they probably know of multiple members that make it. One of our local supply stores has events where you can come in and watch people brew and typically they have bottles to sample. It's much easier to make then beer or ale is.

Tammy, hubby and I get a shot of Mead everytime we go to the Renaissance Fair, or Highland Games.
We've talked for years about brewing, but with raising kids and all that comes with that,it was not a priority.
But now! We want to. Have you ever made beer? We love good beer.
I think it so German. Husband thinks it's so Scottish!

I've seen people put a string of christmas lights in the bottle and tie a ribbon around the neck of the bottle to secure the cord and plug it in. Used as an accent light. I've done this with a wine bottle and blue Mason or Ball canning jar.
