My granddaughter is making lined drapes 16 feet long. She is using a poly-silk. My question is, does she need to use a stiffener of some kind in the top? I think she does because of the weight of the material and the length. She will be using the pins that stick into the fabric and then into the things that will move the drapes across the rod.

Please help.

yes, they make special headers for that and they are easy to use.
You can find them in the home dec section.

I made curtains for a living for a few years and yes definitely use a stiffener. You can buy it ready to go at home decor section in the fabric store. If she chooses not to her drapes will always droop at the top and won't hang properly especially with the length she has. The extra money spent will give her a professional look and well worth it.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!
