I hadn't really planned on going, but my mil got "line tickets" to stand in line at Joseph Beth to see Ree Drummond on her new book tour. I really like her cookbook, but I don't want to buy her new book about meeting her husband--I feel like I know that story, already...is that bad?
I've met many authors...of novels and biographys. And having them sign a book they've written is very special. While I cook the heck out of her cookbook and read her blog now and again, it's not like meeting a literary mentor for me. But, my mil is VERY excited about it, so I guess I'm going to be spending my Friday evening outside, with a bunch of ladies in groups of 25 (we're in group I...).

I'm envious!!! Ree seems like an awesome lady so I'm sure it will be fun to go meet her. Did you read her book when she posted up on her website? I'm wondering if she added more in the book or not. I agree, her cookbook is awesome. I made her MB sandwich PW way a couple weeks ago and we loved it. It's a remake of her MB sandwich and very tasty.

I love the cookbook too but feel the same as you about the new book, don't need to read it. But- might be fun:) Maybe she'll have a new recipe to give you...

Very cool, but the feel the same as you. I read her blog in the past, but have tapered off.......she is one neat lady, though, and gotta love her cowboy story!

It turned out to be alright. We didn't get there until 7 or so, and at that time, they were only on group "D"...we were "I" and it went to "R"! I had a cup of coffee, picked up a British Country Living to buy, walked around the kids shop a bit, talked with my mil and then "I" was called, and we waited in a line that trailed all the way to the gift wrap section but ultimately, by 9:00, made it up the stairs and just in front of Ree.
She looked tired, bless her. I'm sure she was! I brought my Pioneer Woman cookbook for her to sign, and had to apologize that it was a bit "greasy". She said, "Jonni, I'd be offended if it wasn't!" And she pronounced my name correctly :) I apologized that I didn't have a camera--I said, "It's not that I don't want a picture of you, it's that I really don't want a picture of ME!" and she laughed and said she was grateful for the break from the flash.
Ok, Lisa:
No MM, no chaps, no punks.
There were, however, LOTS of women with LOTS of babies. Out too late.

I feel better for not going now, although MM does not seem like the type to wear chaps to a Cinci bookstore.
I am sure Ree is whooped. She mentioned on her blog that she will not be updating as much. I think she needs to take some time for the homefront.
Love that your book was greasy. & I would DEFINITELY not wanted a pic of ME either!
Did you see the KitchenAids she is giving away that are in the pattern of her bookcovers?
Not really my style, but talk about a pop of color! |

Oh Jonni, how wonderful you get to meet Ree, I just finished reading an article about her and her family. From City girl to Farmgirl, dreams do come true. Have fun and tell her hello from all the MJFarmgirls.

I didn't think the KitchenAid would be my style either, but I loved it...I wanted it sooooo bad! I looked at the prices on the others that the same lady paints, and whoo...boy! Wow!
I'd love to meet PW someday...I'm a big fan of step-by-step cooking tutorials with tons of pics. And her pictures are incredible! Makes me oh, so jealous!

Well,Kayla, we've met in the past (at Miss Wilma's orchard sale one sweltering July) and I recall you and your whole family being INCREDIBLY talented! I'm sure you could best PW someday!
She looked exactly like she does in her pictures. Same hair, same smile, same clothes. She's a very down to earth person, and that was refreshing. I didn't "think" she would be otherwise, but you just never know.
I'd like to make her cinnamon rolls--her picture tutorial has really boosted my confidence on that front!

Sounds like fun Jonni :)
I enjoy her recipes but lately I can't give in to the butter (Weight Watchers :)). It would kill me and I would gain back all I have lost :) Ree does seem real and down to earth on her blog, it would be fun to meet her.
