Heating bill is getting way out of sight. 150 gallons of the stuff is going for $528.32. And I have been keeping the thermostat down to 60 and using the wood stove when home. My whine for the day

Cherime,

I am sorry. That seems like a lot of money. The cost of everything is going up. I worry about our country today. I think we are all going to have to try and be more self sufficient. Hopefully spring is coming and will bring warmer weather! Think spring.

Wow That is alot of money! I also worry about our country and how our children or grandchildren are going to survive in the future if everything keeps going up so high! A dollar is not worth anything anymore! So sad!

We have propane too!! We no longer use our propane heat. We are using a wood stove & some electric heaters IF it gets too cold. Our prices are like that here too.

Our cooking stove is also propane. So to save on propane cost I use a toaster oven, electric skillet & crock pot when ever I can!

We have spent over 1200 in oil this winter, and we don't keep our thermostat very high. We use our kerosene heater and fireplace in the evening and wear lots of sweaters.

I have shut off rooms that we don't go into very often. Our extra bedroom is like an icebox. I am really concerned about what next fall will bring.

Id like to know why the oil in the Gulf and Alaska does not go to our country. It really makes me angry.

The big corporations are all crying poverty and that is a bald faced lie. They may not have made quite the killing they usually do but they are by no means broke or anywhere near close to it.

I have spent such a crazy amount of money on fuel this winter too...and I keep my house at 60 degrees too, which is pretty chilly! We have a propane fireplace that we supplement with, but it only heats the living room so the rest of the house is never warm. Plus when I bought my house there is a bedroom addition that has no heat at all. I keep the door closed when it is not in use & have a thermometer in there. There have been nights in there it was below freezing in that bedroom! I've had it finally & have saved enough money for a new heat pump! My ancient inefficient oil furnace is going away in a few weeks! I have spent over $1600 on fuel already this winter! That is so crazy.

It is time to look for alternate fuels. My parents live in St. Agatha, Maine (near Madawaska) - it gets wicked cold up there. They have several pellet stoves. These pellet stoves put out an oncredible amount of heat and run on "pellets" - compressed materials that would otherwise be discarded. I am actually thinking of having a small pellet stove put in our downstairs because it gets so cold down there. I'm tired of seeing our thermostat set for a ridiculous temp ust sothat it will be warm down there!

My FIL is an inventor and creator and has made some really neat wood pellet heaters along with wood-gas engine to run his tractors. It's really cool to see them in action!

Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

I have looked at pellet stoves but they are too expensive up here in Alaska and getting the pellets is equally so. So I will just keep the temp down to around 60 degrees and supplement with the little wood stove.

I hear ya! Worst winter ever here, and propane prices keep on rising.
