I now have internet (as of yesterday evening) at the camper, but am not sure how long I'll be able to use it without losing it for a few days again. Long story, but we decided not to build where we were going to, so as soon as we can get electric to the new (definite) site, we'll move the camper. The phone company said it may take them several days to a week to come out and move the service, so I'll be here awhile and then may disappear for a few days or so.
We have dial-up, which I haven't had in a very long time, so I'm getting more lessons in patience.
Quick update. Those of you who have done this and said it's hard were exactly on-target. Just a list of what-all has gone "wrong" -- our contractor (who will not be working on our house until he finishes the house he's building now) had bypass surgery a little over a week ago. He works alone, so it's not like his crew is carrying on without him. Since he's self-employed I'm sure his insurance is not the best, and I can't imagine being in his (and his wife's) shoes, worrying about the bills, no income while he's out of work, etc. It's a very difficult situation, I'm sure. My Tracker, which I absolutely love, is in the shop and out of commission. It may need a new motor, which I hate to put into it at its age, but while I'm in limbo about my job/income, we don't know what to do. Fortunately, the mechanic is a good friend and doesn't mind my vehicle sitting there until we decide what to do. Downside -- I have nothing to drive when dh is at work all day. He drives 30 mi to work, so for me to drive him in just so I can have a car is wasteful. The well that was on the property is bad, so we're having a new well dug. The guy started Thursday and after about 3 hours of drilling, the motor on his drill broke and needs a part that has to be ordered. Again, this man has no income while he isn't working, so I feel bad for him. We have a water tank on the camper and get water from our in-laws well (and bottled water from the store), so we're fine. Since we're having a new well dug, we decided to move the house site closer to the road so we don't have to maintain .6 mile of very rough gravel road that needed tons of work. The well will, of course, cost quite a bit upfront, but the trade-off is that we would have had many, many (hopefully) years of maintaining that road, so this will be cheaper in the long run.
Everything that is so automatic and easy when living in a regular house is so much more complicated and difficult when living like this. I keep telling myself it's an adventure and it will all pay off in the long run, but there are times (especially during the evenings & at night when we're stuffed in the camper with no breathing space or room to do anything) that it's really hard. But we'll make it.
Well, I've bored you-all enough for one sitting, so I'll get back to reading all the threads I've gotten behind on. I'm so glad to be back!

Thanks for the update Patti, I've been wondering about you. Just a thought I "thunk" while reading your post...you all could get satellite installed on a pole and run the cable to your camper, so at least you'd have some TV to help pass the long evenings. Not the "best" solution to everything, but a thought I had no less. hehe
This will be one of those times in life where you look back upon it and how hard it was with awe in how far you've come since then, and with appreciation of the hard times and lessons learned. It doesn't look like that now, but just wait....you'll be so happy at your farm, I'm sure!
