well hippo calved about 3 hours ago. yipee its a boy. after 5 girls last year i need the boys for later beef. he is a dexter crossed with belted milk cow. he will be a big steer for sure for a dexter. her other calf from 2 yrs ago we just butchered recently. unfortunately he hurt his neck and had to go early. so happy its a healthy bouncing boy so far. lisa is doing the bo-se and the hooves and naval with iodine. we will worm mom and in a month they will go out to pasture together. what a relief it is to have them on the ground healthy. lisa will email me a pic and i will post it as soon as i get it. happy days here. 3 to go for cows and 4 goats. sherry

I'm so glad everything's ok and it's a boy. I hope Mazie has a boy too. We'll see. I can't wait to see pictures of all these cute little baby critters.

Sherrye I can't wait to see pictures! Too cute! I'm glad he's okay and that you have a beef steer after so many cows!

no milking her. i thought about it since shes part belted. but her name does her justice for sure. hippo is a hippo cow. she will not fit in my barn. LOL lisa is going to email me a pic. usually i ask alee to post for me. i think she worked today. so i will ask her this eve if she can post my pics. i ask lisa to take them for me. i am sick on the couch today with the porphyria. so i had to take some drugs and watch matt dillon movies. so i HAVE NOT SEEM him yet either believe me if i could go i would have papa drive me the 15 miles. too sick. i will be better tomorrow. so i just called her again (lisa) and said pics pics. this is hard waiting. so anyway, we also think we found a white park bull. we would sell mr bullseye bill and buy the white park. so we shall see. thanks girls for being so happy with me. happy days sherrye

Congratulations. We always hope for boys as well.

I have milked in the pasture before not impossible. Very scenic.
