How snug we are because we didn't lose any electricity! Thank goodness because it started out as a three hour ice storm first. Now it's just a blizzard. NOTHING is open! :-) And out where our son is out in the panhandle, they've broken the record for windchill at minus 36. I know those of you in Montana, Idaho, Maine, etc think that's no great shakes, but to us Okies, it's downright cooooollldd!! The roof to the Hardrock Casino in Tulsa collapsed from the weight of the snow. Just goes to show that gambling can kill you!! :-)

This was the front of our property at 8 am and it has snowed and snowed since then. Wow.

I'm so glad you didn't lose electricity. We are supposed to get significant ice tomorrow so we'll probably lose power. I'm not looking forward to that. At least we don't have the cold temps you do. It is 25 degrees here. The older I get the harder it is for me to stand these cold temps.

Warm and snug here in S.E. KS. We have about 18 inches of snow, temp 12 and wind 20-35mph. The drifts are 4-5 ft deep. Have one problem. We leave the door to the shop up about 6 inches so the cats can come and go. There is a 5 ft drift in front of the door and the cats can't get out. I had surgery on my foot a few weeks ago and still can't get my boots on. So I can't get out. They are just going to have to find a mouse or 2 for the next couple of day. I can't get out to the bird feeders either. No one can get down our road yet so #1 son can't get out here from where he lives. I am so mad at myself for not just dumping catfood out for the cats. I have been feeding them on the back porch but now they can't get here. Poor kitties.

Wow! I can't even imagine a wind chill factor like that! You poor thing! I, too am so glad you didn't lose power, Mary Beth!

We were expecting a huge amount of freezing rain overnight and into today, but all we received was rain. It's slushy and gross outside, but I am grateful that's ALL it is. Laila - we're near Pittsburgh - where is Kutztown? I haven't heard the news yet tonight, but I'm really hoping we only get the rain!

Hugs to everyone - stay safe! I'll keep you all in my prayers! - Nini

Just heard that they got 21" in Owasso! That's just incredible. I'd say we got around 13 or 14 inches but it is hard to tell because it is blowing so hard. I have to show you a picture of my cat, Sway. He's just totally bummed that he can't see out the window to the bird feeders to dream of adventures in hunting. He's stretching to see up over the snow. The snow drifts are up to the windows about 1 1/2 ft. He's just going to have to have a tea party instead. Just the right size for his paws. :-)

Yep - it's "or something" here. Saturday, it was 70 degrees at my house. I wore capris and a short sleeved tee and went barefooted. I washed and hung everything I owned on the line...and my bedding still smells great! Sunday it began raining and rained on and off until yesterday. I got to work yesterday morning - my thermometer in my car read 59 when I walked in at 7:15. When I walked out at 6:15, it was 29. It hasn't been out of the twenties since - cold, windy, icy early on...but gloriously sunny. This is life in South Arkansas!

Mary Beth, So glad your power stayed on!! We had that storm here as well although not too much snow, only because it blew away! I always worry about losing power during these kinds of storms. And I must say, although I am rom WY and we can get cold and snowy, I didn't like those temperatures at all!! I don't remember it being so cold here recently!! One morning we were -26 without the wind chill and with wind chill it was -40something!!! YIKES. Thankfully we never lost power either. The picture you posted is beautiful though!! :-)

Wow, Amanda. Don't think I'll say another thing about our 5 below 0 this morning. I thought THAT was bad. Not so much. :-) They are saying we have another storm moving in. I'm trying very hard not to get cabin fever but we're moving into 5 days tomorrow and it's getting a little familiar around here!!

I can't believe it!! It's snowing again. Two inches already. I could swear I live in Oklahoma but I'm starting to wonder if I woke up in Alaska this morning!!! At least the birdies are happy

Mary Beth, Snowing here too. I was waiting till it got as warm as it was going to get this afternoon to get out and go to the post office. Well, then it started snowing. Went anyway. No problem getting out. #1 son had worked on the drive way for several hours. The roads were clean and dry. We'll see what we get today. Supposed to snow again Sunday.

My sister lives just north of Houston. They are getting cold rain and ice down there. Kinda puts a smile on my face.

Al Gore says that all this unusually cold and snow is a result of global warming. Oh yah, I think I saw that movie. Then there was a volcano that erupted in Japan and the Hurricane that hit Austrailia, I saw that movie too. Not kidding, this is the stuff movies are made of. No more science fiction.

My birds and cats are all fed and fat. So all is well here in S.E. KS.

Going in the kitchen and bake something.

Didn't get quite as much snow as y'all South of me...probably 8-10inchs. But it's plenty. Helped feed cows yesterday morning...-9! That was the temp, who the heck knows what the wind chill was, I certainly didn't want to know. Today I drove up to Dewey to take my Mom to the store and stopped off in Copan to check on my Dad. It started snowing so I high-tailed it out of there. This weather has got me a little paranoid, you just don't know what it's going to do. Home and under a blanket now. :)

Belle, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to give me a shout. I have 4 wheel drive, so if the roads are good enough I can make it to ya. I'm really glad your song #1 came by. I started to kinda panic after I read your first post. I'm emailing you my phone number, just incase.

Stay safe y'all!

Sure glad you all are ok. I am starting to get just a LITTLE stir crazy. I've been very creative but there's just so much creative you can get around to after 5 days. I've been stuck here since Monday afternoon. We are supposed to get more snow on Sunday and then the weatherman announced that "the big one" is coming in on Wednesday. What's "the big one"??? What constitutes that? I thought -5 and 13 inches of snow with 3 hours of ice prior was pretty big in my book!! If you want to see pictures of Oklahoma in the snow, you can check out my blog. I've done one post since, but you can just scroll down and check out the one on the snow.

You all just snuggle up and stay warm and safe!!! As for me, I have OREOS!!! :-)
