on my blog. It has been in my attic for a long time, and came from my mom's house. I never saw it growing up, so I do not know where she got it. Does anyone have one or know anything about them? It is lined with copper I believe. Check it out.

Someone will invent a clever way to recycle it. I believe the copper lining has something to do with preserving tobacco.

They used to call them humidors-The copper helps maintain moisture-Apparently, tobacco can "dry" out and the copper lining helped keep the tobacco moist and fresh.

You have a nice one Shirley Jean-

My grandparents had one similar to yours that had belonged to my great grandfather. It smelled vaguely of his pipe tobacco. My brother and I used it as an "oven" in our play kitchen growing up. We still have it in the family along with my GGF's collection of pipes that he aquired on his world travels.

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

NAncy, thanks for the tip.

Speaking of pipes, Marilyn, and Ebay, NAncy Jo, I am seeling my hubby's old collection of pipes on Ebay right now, and they are a hot item (no pun intended)! I have sold every one so far, and they all get lots of bids. I would put the humidor on there too but I am not sure how to ship big stuff.

I just sold one of these for 45 dollars in my booth at the antique mall and it was not that pretty. You might could try Craigs list too, I would sure like to buy it if I was closer!
