Just was laughing at myself again for mentally misprouncing some of the screen names here -
I hope nobody thinks I'm picking on them by using them as an example, but I'm really laughing at myself and how dense I can be...
For example, it took me a while to realize that cajungal was Cajun gal... I was pronouncing it in my head "Ka-jungle"
And bluesky wasn't blue sky, it was "blooski"
What a dolt I am!

A dear friend finally asked what my SN meant. I explained that "Abba" was a name Jesus used to address God His Father. It was an intimate name, almost like our word "Daddy". I always want to be reminded who I belong to...thus I am "abbasgurl" or "Daddy's girl". My friend thought I was letting the world know I was an avid fan of the old rock group "Abba"! THAT gave me quite a chuckle!

I love your name, abbas gurl. I'm Phils Ann because his older brother married an Anne, so she was David's Anne and I was Phil's Ann to our in-laws. It was either that or Anne#1 and Ann#2. No contest.

Mine is prounounce silly folks. It started years ago when the kids where very young. We would tell the kids that they where silly. You know, when they are 2 or 3 and do silly little things like put sand bucket on their heads. It would become a contest, who could be the silliest. Well, it slowly developed into "we are just silly folks, aren't we?" So that is where silly comes from. Now Foulks, has 2 meanings, not only is it our last name but it just goes with the whole thing.

Mine is "blueroses" because of several things. When I was younger and read "The Glass Menagerie" it was in the book. Someone couldn't pronounce "pleurosy or plearoses" and called it blueroses. Later on - found that people had been trying to produce blue roses, but artificially or by creating hybrids cuz they just don't occur naturally. So blueroses became sort of my unicorns, mystical things that may or may not really exist. My search for something just out of sight. Okay - I sound crazy - do you know what I mean? The mystical magical part of me that not everyone knows.

I picked whimsy_girl when I was 18 ad got my first computer. At the time I was quite the whimsical girl, and then it just sort of stuck... plus once I grew up and got mommy brain it was the only one I could remember on a regular basis for login purposes :)

LOL...on some sites I'm LittleRedHen but I saw there was already a Redhen here so I went with another one I use: boxbreaker. It's 'cause I like to bust the little boxes (ideas) we put one another in....

I have to say I was wondering about yours Tia. My guess was that it was because you had moved and were doing alot of box breaking..flattening I mean..heehee I like the name even better now that I know the meaning. Mine is boring...my daycare kids always called me "Aunt Jenny"..and so do my friend's kids and of course my neices and nephews.

Well Jenny, either this weekend or next we'll be moving for the third time this year so I guess both versions fit! :-)

Hi, blooski here! :) I also pronounced names wrong in my head when I read them here. I used to think bubblesnz, who was bubbles in New Zealand, was bubble snooze. And I thought rabbithorns was rabbi thorns. Sooooo, anyway, j and p are my initials, and I just love wide open blue skies.
There is another topic similar to this one within the forum Across the Fence. It is called Why the Name? So if you want to know more about why people chose their names, go there!

I love that serenity! That is so wonderful! First, that your grandma gave that prayer, and most especially that you kept it.

My screen name is the combination of my first name Kathy and my middle name Gene. But it also has other significance to me. When I was a little girl and all my cousins still lived near me I was always Kathy Gene because my aunt had a daughter named Kathleen. So the name Kathy Gene takes me back to a time when my mom and my granma and my sisters were still with me. A time I really miss.

It never occurred to me when I put in a 'user name' on the profile that we would use them to identify each other. I had never chatted before. So I just used my first name, Theoanne. No one ever has heard of it and I never worry that someone else will have the same name. I felt so un-original when I saw all your creative names. Theoanne is after my grandma, Theo who was named for her Dad, Theodore. I don't have a middle name They made it all one name so we wouldn't have Theo #1 and Theo #2 I suppose. Someone in my 5th grade class thought I should be called Teddy after the Theodore part. I chose to spell it 'Teddie' to be more girlie. My family still calls me Theoanne, but to everyone else I'm Teddie.
I thought bubblesnz was bubbles nose. Oh well...duh.......... It makes me think of trying to read vanity tags on cars as your driving down the highway :)
I enjoy the names even more now that I know some origins........................Teddie |

Mine is Aunt George because I have at least 13 nieces and nephews and now I have 5 great nieces and nephews. I don't get to see them very often though. They are spread out all over. Nobody really calls me Aunt George except one of my new nieces and she is 47 years old! *wink* Love ya K! Anyway. I have always been called George. When I was a little girl I loved being called George, I cut my hair short like a boys. I was the fastest runner in the school...even beat the boys. And I was named after my two grandfathers: George Percival (the Iowa farmer) and Marlin George (Texas farmer) AND George and my name Georgann mean: FARMER!! So since this is a site for farmgirls, I figured Aunt George would be perfect. (I also like Georgiegirl....my daddy called me that name. BUT please don't call me Georgia. I loved reading everyone's name stories! Aunt George |

Amen, Teddie! I was just putting in my first initial and (new at the time, had just been married) last name. I suppose I was more thrilled to use my new name than to think about a creative moniker for future web chat use! Oh well. I do like my name...even though folks always try to spell it MANDEL. I say "Mandle like Candle" when I'm giving my name on the phone and it always come back butchered. Do folks just not know how to spell candle? :)

I know some people think I'm "owl lady", but it's OWW lady. The OWW stands for Old World Wisconsin, a 500 acre outdoor historical museum of immigrant farm life in the 1800's. I've worked there about 6years as an historical interpreter and loved it. So, even though I like owls, that's not my name...by the way, even my Mom thought it said owl lady! |

I'm FarrarFarmgirl, simply because Farrar is the name of the tiny little town where my husband is from and where we dream of going. All of his family live there, too. So when I talk of moving to the farm, that's where it is, in Southeast Missouri along the river. His parents actully lived on the farm for many, many years, but shortly after his father passed away, his mother moved to town. (Town is a hill with about 15 houses on it with a church, school and garage). Currently his mother still owns the farm, which is 200 acres split between crop fields and woods. We just can't afford to buy it from her right now. We keep about 45 head of cattle there, and my husband still takes care of them, but that's as close as we come. So my name hopefully perpetuates our dream of me being a farmgirl in Farrar, and not in the suburbs where I cureently live.
Thanks for asking, it is fun getting to know a little more about each other.
Blessings to you all.
In His hands, Lynda L.
