I am interested in buying 1/4 cow. We met a man at the Monroe fair during the summer and now he's calling asking what we want. I don't know! I have never done this. We'd eat beef only once a week, 2 adults and a 4 & 6 year old. His price is 2.50 either 1/2 or 1/4 (still all cuts). That is cut and wrapped. Black Angus and they are 375-400 lbs.
Trouble is I don't know what to ask. I know it's natural, but not organic. What questions do I ask? Go visit? What do I look for?
Any local farmgirls that sell beef? I'd rather buy from you! Thanks. Stephanie

Never purchased a fourth of a cow but if your unsure-ask. If your able, go and visit too-the person should have no problem with showing you his operation, how he's raising his cattle (how their housed, what they eat, etc.) right up to selling it to you. He should also be able to recommend cuts too-it helps if you tell him how you prepare beef for your family. Or ask for recomendations.
