I just wanted to say "Thank You" to all the farmgirls on the forum. I've only been a part of it for a short while, but just reading everyone's posts has been extremely motivating.
I've been traveling a lot for work (the last 3months I have spent 4 days each week out of state, with no end in sight). Due to some other events going on simultaneously, I haven't been able to really spend any time making my new apartment feel like home. But after reading this forum, I have been inspired. Today, I made a loaf of olive bread and my own chicken stock from a chicken I roasted last night, both firsts for me. I also cleaned the floors, installed a curtain wire across my bay window, and made 4 curtains for the living room (two floor-length and two valances). At one point, I was trying to secure the end of the curtain wire into the wall, but I ran into a beam. I don't own a power drill and for a second I was bummed at the thought that I wouldn't be able to finish this project. And then I said "Really Erin, how do you think they did it before power drills?", so I muscled up and hand screwed it in. Its just little things, but they add up and I feel great.
So, a great big thank you to each one of you. If I'm this motivated after only a week, I can't wait to see what's in store for me next week!

That's wonderful, Erin! I'm super excited for you to get your place feeling like "home". Nothing is more depressing than either having things in disaray, or arriving at an empty shell of a place. Regardless, you really accomplished a lot--and you'll be so pysched having that chicken stock on hand in the freezer or fridge. It's simply endless what you can cook now without having to go to the grocery and "buy" some. The world is your oyster!!!
