I need your help! I am a second grade teacher in the Phoenix area. Every year our school has an end of the year program where each grade performs songs, skits, etc. We are given a theme in which to work with our students on. This year our theme is farm. YAY! However, I am having a difficult time coming up with songs and skits for my second graders to do that are farm themed. I don't want their program to be beneath them or too hard. Here's where you come in. I would like to hear your ideas that my students could possibly perform. Let me know what you think as soon as possible. Thanks!

Don't forget "Old MacDonald" - the quintessential farm song. How about Pete Seegers "Inch by Inch" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u90qRE2F7CM

I can't help but think of old episodes of Hee-Haw. You could build props for the kids to hide behind (ex. row of corn, barn, ect.) and they could stand up when it was their turn. Their lines could be funny farm jokes or fun facts with lots of randomness. Have fun!

I think Tommie has a great idea with hee haw. People may not recognize it, which is fine. But, I could see one little munchkin pop up and say, "hey what state produces the most potatoes?" and another kiddo says, "I dunno." And then he says, "No, not I dunno, it's Idaho." I think the humor is age appropriate and the state or local facts are fun for everyone. The children will love the popping out part and it would be easy for them to dress appropriately without being a strain on the parents . . .
Good luck! Marianne |

Well we did it! My kiddos and I ended up being first on stage and doing an amazing job! All 26 were super duper! We opened singing Inch by Inch, reciting Little Bo Peep & Little Boy Blue (which they did motions to) and then we rounded off with reciting a fun poem called Hinky Dinky Double D Farm! They did it ALL by themselves and music was accapella! They were FANTASTIC!!!
