k...my dear husband is almost done with our new barn! yay !It will house all the animals! 2 horses, 2 goats , a section for silkies-8-9, a section for layers-30, and a section for turkeys or chicks or WHATEVER! so..4 small rooms on one side with a feed room, and the other side of the barn two stalls! (so excited)
Can anyone tell me their experience with housing all their farm animals in one barn...very high roof and walls between each BUT I would rather not have hubby put cielings on each room>...Anyone have experience with EVERYONE rooming together in one big barn!
And trust me, there is no turning back now,,,they will all be in the same building..so advice anyone??? I will post pics too!!!(of the barn! |

| Hi Yasmine I have 3 large horses, 4 mini horses ,4 pot belly pigs, 9 chickens, 2 rabbits,4 sheep, 3 goats, in one large barn and I've never had any problems, each has their own section its been that way for the last 30 years.good luck and have fun with the new barn. Penny |

I don't have any experience with housing all my animals in one building but it sure sounds more convenient! Yea to your husband for building that for your critters and can't wait to see the photo's.

oh yipee all these new gals. i house my goats and such together. the chickens do not go in the stalls though. they are in separated room. i think that's what you are saying. sounds much easier for chores. i think ventilation would need to be good. sounds wonderful. would love to have a barn like that. happy days sherrye

I have a small barn with 3 separate stall type areas. I have 7 turkeys in one stall, 2 pigs in the other stall and both these have doors. Then 2 goats and a whole bunch of chickens have the rest of it. They all seem to do good together. The chickens don't go in the turkey or pig areas. The thing I do not like about the chickens is they will not roost on the perfectly good roost that's in there just for them. They want to roost on the 2 hay racks. Then they poop on the hay and the goats will not touch it. So I need to find some boards that will go across the tops to prevent the poopage. Other than that I like them all together. The chickens keep the straw all fluffed up, too.

I have all mine together, too. The only unruly ones are the chickens....they visit everyone's space. Often, I'll turn everyone out on the pasture together. They all get along....I imagine in my mind that they're all talking and just hanging out.
I agree with Sherry....good ventilation is a must.....it probably wouldn't be a good idea to ceiling in each room.

When we built our stalls we used "fencing" on the top. So there is two stalls, bottom 5 foot is wood top is framed and fenced. This allows ventilation and keeps chicken from horse stalls.
I have 1 horse, 1 llama, 1 potbellied pig and like 20ish chickens in one barn. We have a smaller barn for my does. And a sepereate area with small house for bucks.
