I read an entry the other day about being a doula (childbirth support) and I can't remember where I found it. It's a subject I'd like to learn more about. If anyone has information, could you please respond? Thanks

More Dould information for you from one who is a doula.
There are several doula organizations that you can refer your friend to.
I'm at home so I can't actually give you the links, but I'll give you
the names and she can google for them- I'm sure she'll have no problem.
1) Doulas of North America (DONA)
2) International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)
3) ALACE (I'm not sure what that's an acronym for!)

ICEA is who I'm certified through. DONA is probably the lead doula
organization around and also the most demanding certification
requirements from what I understand. ICEA next and then ALACE. They're
all good. It would probably depend on where this person lives and their
personal philosphy on the whole thing. They have some slight
differences in terms of that.

Wish her good luck for me! If you want me to send some written info,
I'd be happy to if you give me her address (I'm just asuming this is a
female... I appologize if it's not.)

It's a great honor to be a doula.

So Endine if there are any more questions Erin can answer she is very willing.
Eileen
