I love that show on the Food Network. SO I got to thinking about the best salad I ever ate. It would have to be a tie between 2.

A few years ago me and a friend went to Pannera and I got the Harvest salad. It was SO good. It's spring mix lettuce with pears, dried cranberries, walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese with a cherry vinegrette dressing. I LOVE that salad. So I have made a bunch at home since but can't ever find that cherry dressing. So I have used raspberry and it's still good.

Then the other one is from Big River Grille. I think that's probably pretty local. In Chattanooga. But they have a goat cheese and humus salad that is to die for it's so good. It's humus with feta cheese, roasted red peppers on top of lettuce with peta bread triangles. OMG, it is amazing. That's all I have gotten there. SO good.

So what is your very favorite salad? Please share.

Kris

Oooh, nice post. I have to agree with you on the Harvest Salad. I love a salad with dried cranberries and gorgonzola! Yummy! There is a local restaurant here that makes a Greek salad with Chicken Souvlaki on it and comes with pita squares and an herbal vinegrette that is to die for. It has feta cheese and a stuffed grape leaf on top. YUM!

Both salads sound absolutely divine. There is a local restaurant in Sierra Vista that makes a Chicken Sesame Salad with orange slides and a sweet dressing. I have tried the same type of salad at other restaraunts and can't find one that has the same good dressing.

My sister made and gave us some candied nuts, walnuts and pecans i think. These are the BEST on a mixed green salad with feta cheese and a basalmic (spelling?) vinegar dressing.

Now I'm hungry!

I'm thinking....I love all kinds of salads, but I have to admit, when I was pregnant with Violet, I ate Panera's Fuji Apple salad religiously...even had one the day I was induced because I knew I wouldn't get food for a while!!!

Additionally, I'm a sucker for any really good spinach salad with warm bacon vinegarette, hard boiled egg, and a little cheese and red onion.

You know, Kris, I'm insane over salads, and that Panera salad is my favorite dine-out meal, hands down! Now I'm hungry, too!!!

Our favorite here at home is one I make with fresh leaf lettuce (green, red, whatever is available), thinly sliced red onions, sliced grilled chicken (or leftover chicken or turkey from a roasted bird), chopped apples (Any kind works, but I favor Fuji for a salad! And sometimes I'll use pears instead - yum!), toasted pecans, crumbled feta cheese, a sprinkle of dried cranberries and and light raspberry vinaigrette - all layered in that order. My husband just can't get enough of it! LOL!

Thanks for the post! I'm inspired!!!

It's amazing what fruit and nuts and good cheese can do to lettuce. I like a salad with grilled chicken and blue cheese dressing. I just love salads. But I was watching something the other day and they were comparing 2 things to see what had more calories. One pair was a Ceasar salad or on big order of fries. The salad had way more calories than the fries. It's the dressing. I don't know why I said that. I love dressing. And I love fried chicken too. And fries.

I can't wait til I can start some spring mix soon. I need to get some cold frames ready.

Jonni, I love spinach salad. That sounds so good right now. I have been so hungry the past few. days. Must be all the extra work I have to do in all thsi snow. Plus hauling tons of wood. But that does sound good. I have some fresh spinach too. But darn, no bacon. I'll have to write that on my list.

Kris

LOL! I'll take salad calories over french fry calories ANY day! :)

They do a grilled chicken salad here that's a-a-a-awesome! Salad greens layered with onion, tomatoes, fried or grilled chicken, french fries and shredded cheddar cheese on top (which melts, of course - oh, my poor heart!)... your choice of dressing. When I indulge, I like to add salsa and a combo of french and ranch dressings on top. If I'm going to blow my hips and arteries - I'm going out with a bang! LOL!

OK, I just made this salad.
Romaine lettuce..hummus, red pepper
Then for dressing I used my homemade yogurt, a garlic clove, some lemon juice, dill weed, cracked pepper & salt
Pretty tasty!
