Oh its' Heaven in 2011...

April Chote and I talked it over while we were in Walnut Grove, MN, for the Farmgirls on the Loose tour, and we thought there should be a Women of the Wild West Road Trip.Sooo... Lets get going.

First stop is Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas.
Where do you think we should stop for a Farmgirl visits????

Do you know of any museums ETC ??

Let's get to planning.

Unwinterize ( not sure if that is a word) those glampers and get the atlas.

Wende - that sounds awesome. I think there is a quilt museum in Colorado somewhere - there is a book called "No Time on My Hands" about a woman homesteader in Nebraska's sand hills who made these fabulous quilts and I'm pretty sure some are in that museum - that is something I want to see some day!! Your Laura Ingalls Wilder trip sounded soooo fun - someday maybe time and finances will combine that I could do a farmgirl trip

Check out EllynAnne Geisel's 'Apron memories blog' as well.
She has mentioned a museum in TX that displays some of her aprons.
Also she lives in CO.
http://apronmemories.blogspot.com
I made & sent her an apron that is a non-traditional Christmas apron in brite orange & greens...just cuz she herself is a very colorfully lady.

I finally received my book " Women of the Wild West" from Amazon. The bookstore wanted $35 for this little book.. I think my total with shipping was $12.
The first section has Laura Ingalls Wilder. Did that!!
Moving on....

At some point we need to find Wild Women in the Northwest territory.
I want to return to the country and enjoy the mountain splendor.
So if any of the N.W. gals can plan a Wild West trip.. I'm in.

Do you think MaryJane would like to be our Wild West gal from Idaho??

HI Grace

You are so right about the museum.
The Apron Chronicles will be on exhibition in the Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
I would like to see Mille Lou Bradley , a cowgirl from Tx, that pioneered the Angus breed towards what it is today. She is an inductee to the museum.

Wooo whooo... who wants to be a Woo Whoo girl??

I'll have to check out the Appalosa Muesum (in Moscow ID) as well, to see if they have any historical info on Pioneer women of the Pacific NW....

You are going to have such fun, and be sure to contact EllyAnne to let her know you are coming....she is a Hoot!

OOO Idaho... I am so ready.
Would like to snowmobile Yellowstone again. Won't be the same since my Dad passed, but the memories are sweeeet.

I think the museum sounds great. Never been to Idaho without snow.

Diana,
I think this is a must.

Get some info together and let's put in on the calendar.
Maybe we can get a good group of farmgirls to show up.

Some of our Texas "HOTTIES" (Heart Of Texas) farmgirls just went on a quick trip to the Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth last week. I'll have to tell them to post here to tell you about it. I think there was an apron exhibit, too.

If y'all decide to go, let us know. I'm sure some of us would go up there to meet y'all.

There are plenty of Wild Women stories at Fort Bridger in the SW corner of Wyoming. I have an "in" there. Could get guided tours, meals, speakers set up for you. Let me know!

Hi Sherone,

Let's do it. I love Wyoming, too.

If everyone concentates on "Women of the Wild West" it will be a great year to have road trips.

Looking forward to it.

Anyone else have cabin fever like me. We had 6-8 inches of snow and some melted today.. but expecting 5-6 inches on Wednesday.. woooo whoooo.. I love snow.

You see.. this is how the LIW tour started. Hmmmm?

I need some opinions here.

Thinking this year the tour should be one site per month. Invite one and all to visit a site, have a blast and if they can move on to another site GREAT!!
Gives a chance to money up again , take care of the home front, check on mister sisters and get a garden in, too.
Something like that.

Wende

Okay ladies,

The dates for consideration will be the end of June to th first part of July. Not a long trip, but worth the time.
Plans are being made to meet farmgirls across the miles.
Please drop me an email if you are intersted in joining the road trip.

Hey Farmgirls,
Wende and I have been talking about the Women of the Wild West Road trip . . . I live in Colorado and had already been planning a road trip with my daughter. So, I'm trying to help her out with planning and such.
She has posted a new post to the Farmgirls on the Loose blogspot and I think it'd be great if you can sign up as a "follower" to the blog so you can keep up with what gets posted there.

We have some FINE lookin' cowboys around here...that's for sure ;-)
I'm assuming you're traveling along I-90 through MT and into ID, then south to Moscow? The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman is amazing, and well worth a stop. There is so much "nature" to see all along the route, you won't be disappointed. I'm hoping we can catch up on your way through Missoula!

You all should consider stoping in Cody Wyoming and going to the Buffalo Bill museaum. There is a lot of information there about the women of the west like Annie Oakley and Sacajawea
