Hi--I'm having some difficulty posting photos with the new method. I did a few weeks back, when you first told us how easy it would be, now the "upload" button doesn't work. I can search my folders for pics, open the file but when I hit "upload" a whole lotta nothing happens.
Any help would surely be appreciated!

You have to make sure it is in the size requirements.

Maybe that's it...it simply doesn't say anything at all, like an error or anything. I just used the "old" way :)

| Sorry you're having problems. We'll look into it. We upgraded the function so you shouldn't have to resize your photos. It should do that automatically. We're on it and will get back to you! |

Does anybody know why when I try to upload a photo all I get is a box with a red X in it? I'll try to attach a photo here so you can see what I mean.

My initial thoughts for your difficulties are to try renaming the photos without using ampersands (&), and probably best to not use spaces (though I'm thinking that won't actually matter). Then try uploading the image again.
I'd try adjusting your image name myself right now to see if that's the problem, but I can't remember how to get to where the photos are saved in order to try that.

Can you tell me what browser and which version number you're using?
(Internet Explorer? Firefox? v. 8.0? 7.0? 3.5? etc)
Do you know how to verify that Javascript is turned on for your browser (under Tools > Options or Internet Options in the menu)?
I believe that was necessary for the file upload, so if it got turned off somehow recently, that wouldn't be very helpful.
Do you know of anything that might've changed in your browser since last the photo upload worked and now? Might an update for Windows have been automatically applied? or did you update or add any add-ons/plug-ins to your browser (if you know what those are)? Install a new version?
After selecting which image to upload, does the new little pop-up window where you selected your picture stay there, and simply do nothing? or does it act like it's working (or not), and then go away?
Do you have some names of the images you've tried uploading that way, so I can see whether they exist in the images upload directory? That would be informative for solving your problem if they're getting uploaded but not inserting into your post.
Please, let me know what info you're able to gather for me.

I do believe they can be found here, and those are all there be (and all there needs to be).
Any of the other photo posting instructions need to be updated. |

I am having trouble uploading any picture. I have made the image smaller. When it uploads it has red wiggly lines under the jpg and the img. what can I do??? thanks MB

Aha! Got it.
It's the apostrophes in the filenames. With the apostrophes, they actually display okay in the browser itself, if I pasted in the images' original URLs ( http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/MB's misc 147(4).jpg ). The original URLs won't work now, because I removed the apostrophe from each one's filename on the server.
But, now that I removed the apostrophes, both on the filenames and in your example post, they show up. But our chatroom doesn't like the apostrophes. Certain text characters like the apostrophe ( ' ), quotation marks ( " ), slashes ( \ / ), periods* ( . ) and other such are generally bad to have in filenames when it comes to the web, programming code, and databases (* other than the one period for the filetype, like ".jpg" or ".doc", etc.)
Apostrophes or quotation marks make the code think you're closing something out and moving along to the next set of instructions when it's not all contained or denoted just so like the apostrophes in this text.
Anyway, just avoid using anything in filenames other than letters, numbers, and hyphens or underscores ( - _ ), and you'll be good.
You could reuse the links to your photos that have already uploaded, if you like; or just try again from scratch to make sure it works. :) |

This, minus all the spaces, is what I added to your post above to make the image show:

So, we know the URL for the image is good ( this part: "http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/MBs%20misc%20147(3).jpg" ).
But, now, using this URL and image tags has little to do with the image upload. If the photos you upload have filenames like this one now does - "MBs misc 147.jpg" (with all the "%20"s above as actual spaces), then it should be good.
Which internet browser and browser version are you attempting all this in, Marybeth? |

For internet browser, that would be Internet Explorer (IE), or Firefox, or Safari (on Mac or iPhone generally), or Google's Chrome.
The latest version of each would be 9 for IE, 12 for Firefox; Safari and Chrome's versions matter less and users of those wouldn't generally know what version they're on, I think.
That's what I mean by browser version.
I'll go check on your post and see if it worked. |
