Not sure if this has been done on here, so my apologies if it has. :> But I thought it'd be interesting to have a book group on here. What with the long months of winter ahead, it'd be nice to sit down with a good read to while away the doldrums and maybe meet new book hungry gals.
Maybe having several different genre's going, or just one that most of us ladies would be interested in such as romance, mystery, etc. We could select a random offering of titles and vote, or some other means of picking.
Let me know what you'd like, or even if you'd be interested?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Karen, I would love to be a part of a book club! I actually found this book podcast, and I've already added to my to-read list! If you want suggestions, I would be happy to help. God's and Winter's Blessings, Megan aka Loretta Rae

Great! I'll start refining the details and we could get it up and running soon. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome, but here is a few things I've got in the oven:
'Meeting' once a month. Different genre each month. Voting from a book list off of a well known and respected web site. Questionnaire with the option to add your own thoughts or ideas on each book once finished.
These are just a few but again, I'd welcome any tweaks that come my way. To gain more interest, feel free to pass it on to fellow farm gals/chicks who might like to join.
Thanks! |

K, girls - here it goes! After MUCH searching the www on book clubs/groups and all it entails, I came across what I hope to be a reputable and well known site that offers a smaller, less overwhelming list of books for us to chose from. So, below is a link to a BAM (Books A Million) December book club list. Please vote on a book you'd like to read for the month of January. Soon afterward I will post a list of questions for you to answer regarding the book, or maybe (and let me know if you're the latter) you'd rather just post your thoughts on the book. I'll follow suit accordingly. I'd rather not make this too complicated, just enjoyable to one and all!
So, let me know which book peaks your interest and let's dig in. Keep in mind that we're a diverse group of chicks and we all have different tastes, so be willing to open your minds to new literary offerings. Along the way, I/we can tweak things to suit our needs so PLEASE send me your comments and ideas. I want this to be FUN!
On that note, here it is:

I confess, I can't resist a book that combines food and a good story line.......so it's Recipe Club for me. But I'm game for just about anything at this point, I'm just chomping at the bit to start!
I'll tally the votes this Friday so we can start reading and have enough time to read/discuss January's book before moving on to February's. Considering that we just started, this would give the newbies time to 'find us' and vote.
Once we've established a group, on the first of each month I'll see that a new list is available. On the seventh day I'll tally the votes of what I have so far, and post the selection. |

Ohhh, I want in!
Recipe Club draws me in, but I like the sound of Sweet By and By, and Knit the Season, and Best Friends Forever. Ok, obviously I can go with anything. :) Can't wait.

I would love to read the Recipe club myself but I will go with whatever the group wants. When will you let us know which book so I can download it to my nook? I am excited about this.

Please count me in. I miss reading a good book. My doctor told me to slow down a little, so maybe this is just what the doctor ordered.
I think I would enjoy starting with Recipe Club. It sounds interesting and very inviting. But I will go with whatever you ladies select.
Looking forward to sharing thoughts with you!
Farmgirl Hugs to all!

Well ladies, it's sure looking like The Recipe Club will be our first read. I'll be sure to post the final result this Friday morning EST so we can jump in and get down to business! And a big MJF welcome to those who recently joined us!

I'll have to catch up with you gals if you read The Recipe Club. My library won't have it in until the 20th or so. But I have it on hold!
