I'll have to check out the library website next.
Connie, have you been to the Women's museum in Dallas? It's amazing with the history of pioneering woman and all through history.

Dar Yes, I have been to the Women's Museum many times since I lived in Dallas until 2003. I am proud to say that I was a charter member of the Museum.
I would also suggest that you visit the Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth. I really prefer this museum-perhaps it is due to my preference for all things rural.

Connie, that's great about being a charter member, definitly something to be proud of. I did not know about the museum in Fort Worth-I will go the next time we're up there. I became interested in the woman who settled this state after learning more about my hubby's grandmother. She lived, for a while, in a dugout in NM and was a barber here in Texas when she met my husband's grandfather-a cowboy. Hearing stories about her sparked my curiosity.

Hey Connie...still hoping we can hook up for lunch some time soon. So sorry to hear about your dog - I have been through that twice and it is the hardest thing. Have you read Jane Long? I absolutely love her story.

Dawnn I have Jane Long checked out from the library right now. Hope to get to it over the 4th (along with about 10 other books that I have stacked up!)
Hope that you and Lacy were able to get together on 6/16 for lunch. It was a tough week for me.
Still want to meet the Texas Farm Girls (open invitation to all since I would love to see the Howdy Ya'll Chapter become active). Will let you know when I will be in Dallas again. Perhaps we could go to that restaurant in the restored house (can't think of the name) in Old City Park near City Hall. Have not been there in years, but it used to be wonderful. Need reservations because the seating is limited, and the docents only serve for a couple of hours.

Larry McMurtry has a new book out called "Telegraph Days". Reviewers are calling it "an entertaining spoof about the Wild West" and "a modern day dime novel". The main character is Nellie Courtright, who is a "very forward young lady."
Sounds like something light for summer.
