October 29th we got a call for our first foster baby! This is the first baby I've cared for other than nephews and stuff. I'm so happy. There is a chance we may get to adopt, but that is a long way off. I would send pics, but we aren't alowed to post pics of foster children on any social-type network sites.
It has been an interesting time. I wanted to let you all know that I was introduced to a DVD that my pediatrician gave me by Dr. Harvey Karp, "The Happiest Baby on the Block". Wow, do those techniques work! I recommend it highly. He has a book by the same title, but I learned the essentials from the DVD.
I am trying to make the transition from disposable diapers to cloth. Does anyone recommend a particular brand? I think I would prefer fitted ones. I found a place called Mother Ease and so far am impressed with their products...Anyone know of anyplace else?

Renee,
Congratulations!! How exciting. It sounds like you're getting off to a great start. No advice on the diapers stuff, my kids are all grown now so its been a long time.

Good for you. I know sevearal people who have done foster to adopt. Some finalized and some were returned to a parent of relative. Ihope that what works for you is best for the child. hugs to you all.

Congratulations!!!

I loved Dr. Karp's book! It helped tremendously with our wee one when she was colicy.

I love Bum Genius and Kissaluvs. We use them mostly at night, now, since she's almost 2 and is wetting a lot more during long periods. For daytime, we use G diapers, which are also great, and easy for Grandparents who watch her :)
