after 18 long months of waiting plus 6 months prior to that of deciding that we'd move to central Florida...well..we have finally found a home. It took us 11 months to sell our home in North Florida, then 7 months of looking here...and...finally we have found a home!! and will be closing on it this Friday! I am really excited as most of all of our stuff has been packed up for 2 years! I'll finally get to start decorating and gardening again! Yeehaw...and... its in a much larger yard than we had in N. Florida..although we managed to have a nice sized garden and even chickens in our N. Florida backyard that was only .33 of an acre our new yard will be 1 acre and .29 more than enough yard to grow lots of fruit and veggies and for the kids to run and play. Although there is a hoa involved and chickens are not allowed we may be able to work on the hoa folks after we've been in the home a while..we'll see, but none the less I can afford to sacrifice not being able to have chickens in exchange for a gorgeous home with a huge kitchen and hardwood floors throughout, a huge screened in patio and an acre and 1/4 to garden on. I'm soo excited..I just can't hide it... LOL thanks for letting me blab my good news. ;0)

I am very.very excited, but I'm also already tired...I've gone through every single box in the garage this week getting ready for our last big garage sale before the move... (which will be held on Friday /the same day as the closing) and I have created another big load of items that we can stand to live without...my tastes and ideas have changed drastically in the 2 years that everything was packed up. So not only am I busy preparing for a big garage sale, but I'm also packing up and clearing out again. It always is a lot of work with a family of 5 no matter how much you already have done. You can see a sneak peak of at least one room on my blog www.gardengoose.blogspot.com

Congratulations! How exciting to have the big change actually taking place. You mentioned the closing and the kitchen looks like the house may be empty and waiting for you. When do you actually get to move in? Can you make it with one truck load or will it take several trips? It would be so great to have Christmas in your new place. That's a great idea to do a last minute garage sale and weed out what you no longer need or want. With 5 kids there'll be a lot to move anyway. Susan

Hi, no I don't have 5 children... I personally couldn't handle that many but God bless those that can... (smiles)...I only have 3 children...we are a family of 5 :0) ------- thanks for all of the congrats! ------------- someone asked about the hoa...they do not allow pigs or the keeping of poultry, fowl, or birds. It also states that home owners can only have 2 pets per household ie: one dog, one cat, or 2 dogs or 2 cats. There are no rules about gardens and I am also intending at some point in time putting a bee hive on the back of my property...there is a large wooded buffer area behind our back fence and the back neighbors house and my neighbor to the right of us has left their backyard totally wooded (almost an acre of their backyard is totally wooded and left natural and they don't use that part of their yard at all)... and neighbor on left has privacy fencing down the complete length of the acre and 1/4 on their side. The not being allowed to have chickens at this point does not bother me that much because there are plenty of farmer's markets around here and the fresh eggs can be easily obtained. And after about 6 months we "may" start quietly working on the hoa to see what type of response we get...we'll see...but its not that big of a turn off right now... I was hoping to be able to have the children involved in the 4-h poultry program, but we may have to go with different 4-h programs instead...again a "we'll see". ------------- well..I'm off to do some packing.:0)

Hi Tina, I live in Central Florida. Love it here. I live in Osceola county on 40 acres. Your new home looked really nice. My husband was born here on this property. We have been married for 31 years. I love gardening in this climate. Although it has been really dry. Need some rain. Our prperty is really sandy. So I have to water and fertilize alot. Good luck with the move.
