Hubby and I went to my fam reunuion. Come to find out, my 1st cousin is married to hubby's distant cousin!! We have the same last names, which got us to talking. I haven't seen my cousin in30+ years either, nor talked to her in that time.
Tres weird, huh??

Hubby and I found out we were 3rd cousins twice removed by marriage at a birthday party 2 years after we were married. It was wierd to be sittin talkin about family members we don't see a whole lot and have his aunt point out that we were talkin about the same people! My hubby's family is from kentucky and mine is from indiana, but if you go back a little farther than just to our parents both families were from oklahoma!
Talk about fate!

How about this...My Grandmothers maiden name is the same as my Husbands. You should have seen us scramble two weeks before we were married to make sure were weren't related. For whatever reason, I thought Hart was her middle name.

I went to a family reunion with my hubby shortly after we were married (it was his family reunion). My daughter ran into a friend of hers from church camp. They got to talking and found out they were both there for family reunions. Then we came to the conclusion we were all there for the same reunion. Come to find out hubby and best's friends daddy are cousins who grew up together. DD and Friend just fell all over each other laughing over the coincidence.

My husband and I are kissing cousins, too! About 4 generations back, our families were in Ireland and had the same surname. Found all this out from my great uncle, after we married, who I then put in touch with my husbands' uncle. Both of them interested in genealogy, and actually had done a lot of the same research. All of our children are bright and healthy, thank goodness!
