If so, are you going to camp out? What do you want so badly that you would do so??
No way would I go. I value my life and health too much!! But that's just me!!

Nope! No way! Uh uuuuuuh.... God bless those of you who will! One year my neighbor dragged me out in the wee hours of the morning for my first ever Black Friday shopping - at Wal-Mart. Wal - Mart. I am still traumatized to this day. <shuuuuddddderrrrr> At this point, if I can't make it or find it online - they're just not going to receive it! LOL! I must say, though, that usually from this point forward you can get excellent online deals, the same sales as in stores, and oftentimes free shipping! I'll take my chances online! :) Hugs and happy shopping - Nini

Nope. Alot of my friends go but I just can't bring myself to do it. Doing alot of handmade gifts this year and what I do buy will hopefully be more personal than what is going to be on the big sales. I am a bargain shopper/coupon clipper for sure with groceries and stuff, but just can't do the black friday thing. Those of you that do..have fun! Sounds wild!

Since my husband has to work early that day, I may get up w/ him and venture out. He was almost tempted to join me, but can't really swing it. He hates large crowds anyway.
There's nothing we really need that badly. I plan on going to one of the big malls, so hopefully most of the crowd will dissipate throughout.
And if the urge to sleep in takes over, I'll go to the mall later on no problem |

I have a hard enough time visiting the grocery store on a regular basis. I know I would be a "crazeelady" if the thought even entered into my mind! LOL However, I do have family members that love to do that, including my daughter who's endorphins kick in just thinking about it! Now that's one "crazee person". LOL

I did it a couple of times when the kids were little and wanted something specific, but not anymore. I already have a pile of wrapped gifts hidden n the closet so I can finish shopping at a leisurely pace :) |

Absolutely not! Friday will be spent with my yarn, crochet hooks, and maybe a little online shopping.

I would rather clean my oven with a toothbrush than go shopping on that day! I hate shopping at the big box stores and malls. I would rather shop in small boutiques and second hand stores. Most of my Christmas presents I make, so no need to go battle the crowds. I also get a little sick to my stomach when I see all the commercialism and the hype. So many people get in debt trouble during the holidays and forget the true meaning of Christmas. Anyway I won't be there, I have an appointment with a dirty oven!

NO WAY!!!!!
There is no amount of money worth saving to have my holiday spirit ruined by people puching, fighting and actling like they will trample you to get a deal.

I go shopping with my mom and a group of friends, but we stay away from the big chain stores. Instead we visit the little local boutiques, craft shops, etc. and go out for lunch together. It is always a really fun day - and no crowds!!

I agree that there is no way I will go shopping on BLACK FRIDAY. Besides that, we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground and our street doesn't get plowed, so I'm not going to endanger myself or anyone else just to save a buck or two.

Nope. I don't shop at those places (commercial big box stores) any other time of the year, so I'm not likely to support them during the holidays.
Also, I dislike crowds, but especially nasty spirited ones. And that seems to be all that the holidays have boiled down to!
My "Black Friday" tradition, which has taken shape in the last 6 years or so, is that I take a drive out into the country as far as I can and see what little towns I can get into.

I totally missed the ball and could have spent this holiday w/ my brother and camped out with him. But he's in JaX florida and it would purely be for the sister/brother bonding time............something we can certainly do w/o the press of too many people all in a panic.

I'm working all day Friday, but if I had the day off or knew someone that's going there's one thing that I need. And it's not a gift for anyone cause most of those I make. Menard's has a heater very similar to the Eden Pure heaters- it may be an I Heater- for $69. It's $80 off the original price and I could probably use another one to get through the winter. I have a couple of Eden Pure(s) and they are about $300 a piece. And even though I could really use that heater and it would save me a ton money, in the end I don't think I'd venture out to get it. But yeah if I had a friend that loved those sales and was going I'd sure give them a little extra money for their trouble to pick it up for me.

No way! No how! We don't even ask our employees to work on Black Friday because the traffic gets jammed up downtown and backed up to a standstill in front of our equipment storage yard which is about 2 1/2 miles from the mall. It's a great day to stay home and work on cards and handmade gifts or start baking for the holidays. I prefer to shop local small businesses or online and do most of my shopping before Thanksgiving when there aren't any crowds. Then I can stay home and enjoy my Thanksgiving weekend.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Saw a post via FB about 7 people already lined up at a Best Buy in Ohio. The line was already 7 deep!
That's TOO extreme and I certainly need NOTHING that badly!
Would much rather enjoy some great turkey and time with family where it's WARM! |

I think it is amazing that people may already be lined up for bargains. Does that mean they are passing on Thanksgiving altogether? Wow. Count me out on Black Friday (why is it called Black Friday anyway) I'm too lazy and cold-blooded to venture out that early in this cold!

It is called Black Friday because retailers are supposed to make a lot of money that day and not be in the red anymore(debt). It is supposed to be the busiest and most profitable day of the year. I don't go to any of the early morning sales. Tom and I enjoy going out later sometimes and just looking around, it's much quieter later on in the day. There are usually good sales still going on all the holiday season. I'd get trampled for sure I am only 5' tall lol!

Thanks for clearing up the Black Friday mystery for me, Mary Jane. That makes sense. It seemed such a gloomy name! But, it's really good news.
I'm still not going to go and I"m 5'8". I'm not sure there is a safe height for the occasion. Marianne |

It's possible-I need to get some vitamin shopping done, and there's a B&N in the same shopping complex. Been making most gifts this year, won't be doing the camp out tho, maybe go after 10AM. I could use another blank book as I keep a gratitude journal/diary and the one I have now is getting close to being fully used. "They" need to come up with a better name than "black friday" sounds so gloomy! *laughs* wonder where the term came from?
