Hello Sisters ! I am brand new here I'm your sister #2339. I lost my husband to Mesothelioma July 14th,2010. I am trying to find my new place in this world and discover what my purpose is now that our kids are grown and my husband is gone. I am struggling to figure it all out.
I live on a farm in Kansas and was born and raised on a big ranch on the plains. I can't imagine leaving here, but don't know how I will keep up with it all since I am alone. Don't want to make a move unless it is just too much. The kids are worried but they have families of their own. They say they will be here to help...but.. havent seen it yet !
I ask for your prayers that I will be lead to understand just why I am here and for strength to carry on.
Thank you and blessings and hugs to you all.. Kristy The Eggfarmgirl |

Kristy, Just know that you are never alone-He has promised to NEVER leave us! Father I pray that you would give her wisdom & strength, be with her, help her to make decisions, help her to find what you want her to do, comfort her in this time of need, give her the peace that passes all understanding & joy, Father-I pray that you would give her joy! Know that you are in my prayers.

Kristy - I will pray for you. There are other women here on the forum who have lost spouses and I hope you can gain strength here and stick around to let us cover you in prayer and caring. Sorry we cannot be there to help out on the farm! Lord, open a way of strength for Kristy, and let her get through each day seeing a little more clearly what you have planned for her.

Kristy, I think you have come to the right place. Go to this thread http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41559
It is all about widowed farmgirls. There might be some comfort there for you. As for your farm, you could place an ad for some help in exchange for a few goods or just the experience. There are actually quite a few people out there that are looking for hands on learning experiences.
Praying that you find your way and we are glad you found us.

Hi Kristy. I am so glad you found your way here to MJF. There are so many caring compassionate farmgirls here. And many are widows as well. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure there are alot of great memories there on the farm. I would stay too. Can you maybe hire a farmhand and let them live there to help out? I will be saying a prayer for you. And welcome to the forum. I think you will love it here.

Kristy, welcome to the farm. There are so many wonderful women here. It is a very sad thing that you have lost your husband. It has to be such a huge adjustment. In my life experiences, I have found it is never a good thing to rush into any major decision. Sometimes what you really are doing is just trying to get away from the pain. Give yourself time to decide whether you will be able to or even want to handle it on your own. As you said you are trying to figure out where you should be and what place you would like to end up. There is no way you could know so soon. But, dear Kristy, make these decisons truly with your wants and needs in mind. You will know yourself better as time goes by. Things will start to come to your mind and you will decide what is best for you and what you really would like to do next in your life. It may well be farming, but on a smaller scale that isn't totally too much. Or maybe something you had thought about and put aside will come back into your mind. It will come to you. This is a new begining in your life.I know it was not a wanted new begining. But you will make the right decisions for yourself. Do what will really bring joy and happiness to you. From what you say, I think your husband will be cheering you on. God Bless you.
Hugs Mary Jane

Welcome to the Farmgirl forum, Kristy. I am so sorry that you lost your husband, he sounds like he was a wonderful person and I'm sure he would want you to have the best. Words of comfort always fail me at this point, but you are in a good place with many many caring, loving and helpful women. We try to take care of each other and friends are found here that are lasting friendships. I hope that you choose a direction that brings you peace and happiness.

Kristy, I am so sorry you have lost your husband - you will be in my prayers. My heart goes out to you as you try to find your way in a new beginning. I pray that the Lord will guide you in all that you do. He says in His word that He will direct our path, and I know from experience that He does. He is our Comforter in all things as well. There are so many wonderful gals here to hold you up in prayer, give hugs, and just be here to help you on your journey - you are never alone as you have so many great sisters to walk with you! Hugs and prayers, Ruth

God bless you all !! I am so blessed to have found my way to MJF and be led to this thread and a few others. I do not feel so alone and I haven't felt that way since I lost him. I am taking it one day at a time. I have a wonderful Hospice conselor that has encouraged me to write and get back to doing my artwork, something I havent been able to do since his passing. He was my biggest cheerleader and was always sitting beside me watching me work on a new piece. Praying that will come as I miss it so very much. It is just hard ! I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and look forward to being there to support others as they walk this journey. I pray there is no one that faces the loss of their spouse anytime soon !! It's the hardest part of my lifes journey so far. I lost my Momma, Daddy and my Brother . I also lost a child. But this.. well there is nothing that can prepare you for this. I stand in my faith and lean into the arms of my Jesus. He is my bridegoom and I His precious bride. That is all I need until He calls me home.
God bless you and keep you... til next time.. Kristy

Hi Kristy, What type of art work do you do? I admire "artist" so much, I can't even tell you how much. I pray you will be able to pick it back up and know that your dear hubby would be so proud of you. I have a friend that does pastels and charcoals, and she will sit by the river and do her thing, while her husband plays the Bass Guitar with a group of other musicians. We just happen to call it "Pickin at the Park"! They get together on Thursday evenings in the Summer months, and people come to listen and watch. I sit with Carolyn and just watch her magic take place. There will be several groups of musicians, playing all over the Park - fun, relaxing place to gather with family and friends and hear some old fashion "Pickin"! Have a blessed and Sonny day! Hugs, Ruth

Kristy,
We just lost my mom in September. My dad is going through the same thing. He feels like he doesn't know where to go from here. They were married for 55 years and they were both 16. He doesn't even know how to date or get to know other women. One thing that is helping him is that he is looking up old friends. He has had dinner with a few of them and had a great time. he is also connecting with relatives in Missouri that he hasn't seen in awhile.

Kristy...Bless your heart. I am so sorry for your loss. Give yourself time to heal and think clearly. God will guide you and stand beside you all the way and all the time. Your Blessing was to have such a supportive and loving husband. Take comfort in the goodness of your marriage and remember all the times you shared. You have come to a place where love and comfort are given freely and as needed. Rely on us and we will help you from a distance to carry this heavy burden. I pray daily for all my sisters on here and you are now one of them. This forum has been a Blessing to me and it will also be to you. We never judge...we lift everyone up. Be Blessed and have Peace.
Blessings and Peace, Darlene Sister 1922

Kristy....my mother and two of my sisters-in-laws have become widows in the last 4 months. It's been hard for all of us, but especially those who have lost their lifemates. Please know that many people care for you. Give yourself permission to grieve, and do what YOU need to do! Keeping you in the light and sending prayers your way.

howdy there kristy, as you can see this is a fine group of farmgirls. so many have already said fine prayers, so i say a prayer for you with the girls. i also want to suggest what some have said above. you can find help to keep your life style going. we just love where we live and how we live. both of us are getting on in years. we are planning ramps etc. to accommodate any future needs as we grow older.i am going to still want fresh raw milk and home raised foods. we have been connecting with the younger folks here. they come and help the farm keep working and in trade share our products. i pay 8 dollars an hour equal in food. it really is less money than that. they love being here and working farm chores. there are 3 families that we share milk etc. with. they do love it. they learn how to run and work the place. first thing they learn is it is HARD LONG and a lotta POOP. LOL i allowed lisa one of the best helpers i have drive the tractor last week. so cute she was driving and her boy friend sat on her lap. they laughed the whole way to dump. they are unemployed. living in an rv. on someone elses place. NO income except side jobs. they get food stamps thats it. so they love coming here and working for farm food. i do pay their gas to get here. they are always happy hard working.even with the situation they are in they smile when here. it lifts my spirit. i went through a lot of folks. some just could not take the hard work. some could not push a wheel barrow. she can sure organize a closet though. so each of us has something we can do. something we can pay forward. from our lessons in life we can share. i am so very sad for your loss. i hope todat will be a little easier for you. i send love hugs and prayers your way kristy. sincerely sherrye
