Found this link this morning, and thought of you...

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Thanks! I'm going to use that. The sling I have is perfect, so I will use it's size, but how to sew the rings in and stuff I'll use the tip junkie tutorial! Thanks!

Super cool! I will have to give it a shot too! I'm glad to know I am not the only one that would travel to a LLL meeting an hour away! Now I don't feel so guilty about wanting to go! They only have meetings once a month as far as I know but still, I was feeling like with gas the way it is and all. I think the information and support I would get there would be worth it and it sounds like I would be right! Thanks :)

For me it has so been worth it. NOT all groups are the same, each has their own tone and flavor. I have so far been in three different groups, one in NYC and two here in Kansas. This third one by far has been my favorite.

However, again the people were really nice in the one in NYC as well too, the leaders were very regular but they didn't seem to have regular members (same people each month). The group I am in now, has a few "different" people each month/meeting, but still has a strong core group of members that are there each meeting. I think that helps a lot to get a relationship going and such, and being comfortable with each other etc.

And then like I said the other one here in Kansas was nice as well.......but I just don't think I meshed well with that group. I think they had their friendships and that was it. Cause a few of them also come over to my other one occasionally and even when they visit they don't visit with any of the group there, only with the other woman/momma they came with from the other group. I have even heard after they have left people ask around what their names were and they didn't seem to get to know them, etc. Yeah I was going to the same group with them for months and never seemed to get to know them.....cause they seem to like their small clique of a few people in their group and that was about it. The group I am in now is large and very inclusive!

Any way...I don't have a lot of expensive hobbies, my only hobbies are embroidery and occasionally trying to sew myself some clothing, and gardening. Pretty much all of which involves enriching my family and saving us money-cheaper to sew my own clothing, grow our own food etc. This again saves us money in having to buy formula, but I also feel it's a night out every couple of weeks where I can talk to other mothers who usually have my same views on health and such, and I can just get out of the house once every couple of weeks for a few hours. I feel I kind of deserve that. But, that's just my view on it. ;o)

Sounds great Heather, I can't wait to go to one of the meetings and try it out! They have two meetings a month, one in the morning and then one in the afternoon so I guess since I am a SAHM I could try both out. Glad you mentioned that each group is different, I will keep that in mind if I don't feel comfortable in one, I will just go ahead and try out the other one!

Too bad we didn't live closer! Maybe it is because I haven't gotten out enough yet but it would sure be nice to have other mom friends that have the same views! I try to pinch pennies and garden, and be thrifty but a lot of other people around here just don't get it. Oh well, I will keep looking! It's hard sometimes meeting new people when there is just so much to do here at home plus with the kids. There is always something happening at home! Good excuse to get out and meet other people and its only once a month. Who knows maybe I could find other moms that want to go and carpool with them to the meeting too. Never hurts to try! Thanks for the encouragement! :)

yeah I for sure need to call around about car pooling, cause there is some who for sure come close to my home for medical care. I live very close to a Amish community many of the mom's in my LLL group go to the Amish birthing center for medical care during pregnancy and for birth. So they would be right near me. I need to ask if any of them live close to me as well, and just go to the other group for "comfort" reasons. And yeah I've been kind of lonely for real life friends of like mindedness for a while so it is finally a nice situation to be around others like me!

Also one of the ladies who does live close to the meeting place, has offered for my husband (who works by the meeting place) to drop me and the kids off in the morning when he goes to work and spend the day with them and then go to the meeting with her, and then my husband could stick around the area after work instead of going all the way home and all the way back for the meeting. She offered that out of the blue with out me asking. She is one of the leaders and is extra sweet and nice.

Also I am thinking if you start going to your LLL maybe you can figure out how to get your own group going in your own area later. That's also a plan of mine, to see how things go and then offer up my own home for another meeting in this area, but for a different day. And maybe a different time-like morning, or mid afternoon instead of evening, since the other one by me is evening. I know I have heard in my current group many moms would like something during the day time so that they are home in the evening when their husbands are home from work. So, that could probably work around not trying to invade or impinge upon the one already near me! As offering a different time and day would maybe work for others in my area better as well, or just others who don't mesh with the already formed group too!

I'd love to hear how the batik cloth works-my moby does get quite hot, especially when it's humid out!
