I'm still looking for my perfect tree topper going on 15 years now. Until then I continue to use decorations from a New Years Eve party I put together with some ribbon. I like the way it looks so thats probably why I'm not finding something else.

I just love every one's stories and how they got their topper! Happy or bittersweet, we all have our tales.

We always had a beautiful sphere at my Grandmas. I have had both spheres and stars. But for the last probably 30 years I have had a porcelain angel with gauzey wings and dress in white and blue and blonde hair. I bought her from my best friend who sold Avon. It reminds me of both my daughter and my friend. I keep thinking I will get another one, but I never seem to find one.

I have angels surrounded by a star and it attaches to one of the lights at the top. I believe it is Hallmark of the Mary's angels line.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

A victorian angel. I bought it from the Smithsonian catalog when I was in college. I bought one for my folks and one for myself at the time, because I thought it was so beautiful. 25 years later they're both still being used every year.

We have an angel in a gauzy dress, with porcelain bisque face and hands. She used to light up, but not anymore. But we love her anyway.

We have the ugliest star on our tree.... but we love it.. [i think! LOL]... it is a multi colored metal star.. each section of the star is a primary color, and it has a white light inside of it... kinda of hard to explain.. but it aint purdy! it has never really complimented our trees we've had over the years... but there is a story to this star....

My husband was previously married [as some of you know]... and when he and his ex divorced she took everything [to include holiday stuff with her when she left, decor, oraments, etc.]... it was a bad year for DH and children... This was his second divorce and and he was feeling pretty crappy about life in general. Well, the short of the long is that he decided not to decorate.... not to really do anything for christmas except get his kids some gifts and be done with it. WELL THEN, he found out that he would be able to have Billy [his youngest at the time] for Christmas morning and he changed his mind very quickly... So when they went shopping for decorations and holiday cheer... and guess who picked out the star... BILLY! It was that holiday i think that made DH realize that life would go on... and indeed he would again find happiness.... That special ugly staer will always be a part of our holidays... :)

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”

We have an 'angel' on the top of ours - I bought it quick and cheap when I moved into my house on 10th Dec and 30 years later am still using it.

Funny but in England even though they look like Angels - have halo's etc we always call them Fairies when they are on the top of a Xmas tree.

I just got a glass star that also has a poinsetta on it. I looks kinda small for a 7 ft. tree but it works for now. I think next year I might make one.

We have an angel decked in white feathers and silver ribbons with feathery white wings. :) This is our 3rd year with her. We had a star when we were dating our first Christmas, but after babys pulling the trees over so many times, that moved onto a happier place. :D

Angel....it's been in my family since I was a child, so it's got to be around 40-50 years old.

On the top of the tree I have a punched tin star and on the tree I have a corn husk angel I made and a fabric angel I made for our church Christmas tree and whtn the church closed in 1995 and I rescued it for my tree. We now go to a Scandanavian Lutheran church. We're making lefse and meatballs for the Smorgasbord on Sunday.
