Todays news has been very sad! A big train crash in Southern California. A heliocopter crash in Iraq killing dozens of Marines. A hostage. A school bus overturned with children. Blizzard aftermath with more on the way. It is sometimes very hard to stay focused and positive. I have a new letter from the Mayan Elders asking everybody to spend a few moments every evening at SUNSET lighting a candle and praying that we humans do all we can to help to heal our wounded Mother Earth. In their message they ask that we become mindful of all we do and the effect it will have for the future as they see in the future to much appathy, passivity because we are too much involve in our daily living and monetary gain to pay attention. They view the current destructive weather patterns, earth quakes, floods, hurricanes, Volcanic activity and other things as fullfillment of the earlier prophecies of their elders. It is said that if we do not pay attention greater disaster will unfold, so I feel it is my duty to do this candle lighting and pass on the word to any of you who feel that your prayers need to be added to the rest for this healing to occur.

It is done, Eileen. That is a positive step I can take. I hadn't heard about the train crash or the school bus and was already feeling overloaded with tragedies... sometimes it feels like a bombardment.

I am reading Marianne Williamson's newest book called The Gift of Change. It is actually about how we personally can make/be the changes that we want to see in the world. It is a good affirmation.

Eileen, As always you seem to pick up what I am thinking about...I will light the candle at sunset. Don't think Iam wierd but I just started to weep this afternoon and I do not think it is hormones playing into it. I was not aware of all the news except for the loss of life in Iraq which in itself is horrendous. The tears did not last long. Then I was compelled to write in the journal I have kept for 31 years. This is really odd though...DH is not normally supersticous or an alarmist, he just goes with the flow and does his work. Last night before leaving on a flight to Texas he seemed reflective. He said he had the feeling lots of people were going to get hurt...This has NEVER happened to him before. He was not specific just a general unsettling feeling he said. He has a great faith and is a very positive person. That is why it freaked me out a little. This all reaffirms that the power of positive thought, prayer or faith is vital now...

There is a big ice storm bearing down on Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas now. We are supposed to catch the brunt of it. Freezing rain for next few days...Wood is stocked and ready to go into fireplace. We have a few oil burning lamps and a generator if it gets bad enough, and lots of blankets. Glad for the moisture for the parched land here...even if it's ice but do worry about people traveling on the roads. 60's last week and now ice. Crazy, mixed up weather. My lilac bushes are putting out fat green buds 3 months early! Makes me smile because spring can't be far away.

Meadowlark... hope the pantry is stocked too and that you've got some alternate means to cook if necessary. Those lilac bushes may be in for a nasty time. Let's hope that the new buds don't freeze, because you most likely won't have blooms this year if they do. Once things stop, you may want to venture outside and knock the ice off the bushes, just to hurry things along and hopefully avoid more damage, like breaking limbs, etc.

We've been stuck for a week in an inversion of ground fog and when it lifts a bit, eternally gray skies. My SAD is in high gear right now, even though I'm doing all my normal things to counter-balance it. What I wouldn't give right now for some SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay safe and smart and practical....
