Thinking of our friends on this site who live in California, Nevada, and Utah and other western states experiencing the hazardous weather and mudslides. My prayers and thoughts are with you all... Blessing and protection for all those in harms way.

I, too, have been praying that the rains and severe weather out West will stop for awhile and that no more catastrophes will happen. Beams of white protective light are aimed your way, and my prayers are being said for those who are in the path of mudslides or anything harmful or dangerous.

There is a Hopi prediction that this is to be a year of extensive changes! We all will be very busy sending protective light out to the world. I find myself waking up in the night to pray and send out light. I am adding my energy to all of yours in these disasters.

That is very interesting Eileen about the Hopi...I put a lot of credence to what the Native American say about nature. This is a bit off subject but has anyone heard about a space probe on a collision course with a comet? Is this an intentional thing? Has me really wondering...

Meadowlark,
Just saw that one on the news this morning. Yes it is intentional as an experiment acording to the new channel I watch. They had footage of the lift off this morning and said it should impact the comet on the fourth of july as a study to determine what happens to it and to see if it would be an effective means of redirecting one if there ever might be one on a collision course with earth. I am a lot concerned.

Good morning everyone! It has been a crazy wild weather week here in southern Utah. On Tuesday the rain storm reached us and small creeks turned into raging rivers. To the north of my house waterfalls crashed off the mesa and sent sprays of water 50 feet high. When gusts of wind hit these falls they moved from side to side like a string of yarn hung from a table top swaying back and forth. The wash behind our place was roaring. and so was a small creek to the east. The Virgin river is the largest in our area and to most people this would be considered a small stream, on a normal summer day the river measures 50-100 cubic feet per second. on tuesday it was 4,000! The roaring noise was intimidating, a reminder of natures power. One of the "small creeks" (not near us) swallowed 17 homes and they are now somwhere between here and Lake Mead. The damage in the region is much larger than this, parts of Arizona and Nevada have also been hit. I'm sorry about such losses for people here and also in many other parts of the country. If the old timer- ancestor-pioneers of this area were alive today they would say- an awful lotta houses have been built in the flood plains. The new timer developers don't seem to see it that way. Hope everyone stays safe. ~Kathy

Hi Kathy, Glad you are safe...that must truly be awesome and humbling hearing the water and seeing the rivers become so destructive. I am concerned for Aunt Jenny, who lives in Manti Utah...have not heard from her lately on the boards...what is the situation weather wise in her neck of the woods?

Kathy and all those who are impacted by this years catastrophic earth weather changes I send you my heartfelt prayers of safety and protection.
I wish also to share with all of you who participate on this forum something I heard this week on a radio broadcast. There is much truth to the predictions and wisdom of our native peoples and this is something I think we can all use in the upcoming future. It was presented by a Hopi Elder to a Chumash (sp) elder many years ago and she is sharing it with the world. Her Name is 'Cho'Qosh'Auh'Ho'Oh.
I hope you can find some wisdom and direction from this teaching.
10 things we need to remember
1. Where do you Live? (Not necessarily physical)Where do you spend your thoughts? Do you live in your body, mind and spirit. What is your passion? What is your love?
2.What are you doing? (spiritually) Are you sharing what you know? Are you praying, sending out light and healing energy and communicating?
3.Are you in Right Relations? ( not just with people) Living life in harmony with everything around you, to children, your elders, community? Do you choose to use safe products for our planet. How about energy sources? Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
4.Who or what are your relationships? This is for you to decide.
5.Where is your water source?
(other than municiple) Do you know the location of springs in your area or other safe water in the event of an emergency? How will you get your water if it becomes a controlled commodity?
6. Know your Garden? (Not just what you cultivate) Where can you find wild foods in your area that will sustain you in an emergency. What edibles and medicinals are available in the wild where you live?Learn how to harvest in a sacred sustaining manner and safely process these foods. Know how to encourage more growth of the same.
7. It is time to speak your truth. From your first breath to your last breath and all of your lifetime what is your own special strength and sacred truth?
8.It is time to create your community. The time of living as a lone wolf is over.We must gather ourselves together. Teach one another how to gather food, what to do for heat and light not relying on our electrical grids to keep us warm. Find alternative sources . Learn how to survive a famine should one come. You need like minded people to share your innermost thoughts with to help you stay focused and not confused and afraid. Someone you can speak your feelings to and no longer be hiding thoughts, Then others like you can find you. Your entire being gains strength by sharing your truth. These others will be our community.
9.Be good to each other. Embrace. Sparkle! Send good energy to everyone. Practice the art of intention to bring smiles to eachothers lives even strangers. This is the gift of the moment.Find your people and treat them well. People who can share your fears and Joys. People you can Honor and Respect.
10. Do Not Look Outside Yourself For Leadership!!
Do whatever you do with Honor and respect and then whatever you do will be between yourself and the creator. There is no death only life. Life in your body and life in your spirit. Love is the message. It is imperative that you tell your people "Do not take anything personal. The moment you do your spiritual life comes to a screetching halt. Just watch life go on around you and get about your business. Always stay within your own business.

Much of this teaching I have endevoured to practice all of my life. Some of it I am just learning. Parts of it I learn over again when I get off track.

I have been praying for everyone who has been impacted by this recent turn in extreme weather and hoping a protective and loving hand is guiding them.

Eileen--if only our politicians lived by these teachings. They are wise words for all of us.

Lorij-- You and your boys have been in my thoughts this week. I hope and pray that they are safe and come home soon. The recent news about your Louisiana brigade was heartbreaking. My heart goes out to the families that have to endure this pain every day. May peace be soon and the losses end for everyone, for they are all someone's son or daughter, father or mother, husband or wife. The pain of loss knows no boundary, religion or ethnicity. Love is so much more powerful than hate, why is it so much harder to share?

In regards to this topic and the overall world condition I thought I would share this information with you.
1/10/2005
Through the ancient techniques of divination and tools of prophecy,
the Mayan elders are calling forth to humanity at THIS TIME to pay
closer attention to the messages being sent forth by the mother earth
and to immediately take the actions they have been calling for, to
unite in an effort to bring balance again upon our planet. The recent
destruction that manifested in Indonesia is predicted to now occur
rapidly upon five continents of the earth. This message is not meant
to induce fear, to the contrary, it is a call for bravery and for
action. The elders are concerned about what has been presented in
their recent divinations and they call to all humanity to warn their
leaders and to work very hard at a spiritual level to prevent the
impending destruction. This message, verified and brought forth by
various Mayan elders in Guatemala, is for all of humanity. The
hurricanes in the US and the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia have
been warnings and we must now pay attention or the possibilities of
floods in Europe, Los Angeles, earthquakes and other efforts of the
mother earth to awaken us will manifest quickly.
There is a specific call for people around the world to join in
prayer, meditation or whatever method of spirituality one engages in
to unite on January 18th at the time of their local sunset (approx
6:00PM). This date is (9) Keme according to the sacred Mayan Cholq'ij
calendar and has the potential for protecting humanity from disaster.
There will be many major ceremonies in the Mayan communities for this
purpose. An open invitation is extended to humanity that wish to join
the Mayan people for the Waxa'qib B'atz' ceremonies on February 12th
in Guatemala.
Again, this is a strong message, not meant to drive us to react in
fear, for this will only negatively impact the level of destruction
and our own circumstance. This is the opportunity for humanity to rise
to the occasion and come together along the strong lines that unite us
and overcome the obstacles that divide us. Please distribute this
message widely.
Message issued by Mayan elders in Guatemala and delivered via:
Carlos Barrios, Mayan Ajq'ij, Antigua, Guatemala
Adam Rubel,

www.sacredroad.org

This will give you a chance to participate in this healing ceremony for our planet in what ever way you are led.

The weather here is on a roll of the white stuff. Has been coming down nonstop since the weekend; at least 3 feet or more has built up and I can no longer see but the tops of cars as they drive past my place. No mail in or out since planes aren't flying in this, so the only access is by ferry once a week to Juneau. Keeping fingers crossed none of our patients has an emergency and needs medevac'd while this is going on. We have only our EMS crew and a physician's assistant manning the clinic; the doc made it out on Saturday. One thingI can't complain about is that circumstances such as this brings out all the able-bodied snow shovelers in droves, people sharing rides to the only little grocery store, and plenty of good company at the local coffee shop/deli. No complaints other than the "O, my achin' back!," but plenty of helpful offers to clear paths for the elders and shut-ins. Gives all of us plenty of time to get extra wood on the porch, cook plenty of food ahead to be reheated on the stove, and all the extra woolens out and dried and ready to climb into.

As far as troops, don't we all know someone overseas that we keep in our prayers?! My daughter and her husband were Army/Navy, but were out before Iraq conflict. Other friends keep us posted on their son's or daughter's well-being. Thankfully, gratefully, all that I know are still going strong. I was baking biscotti the other day and thought what a great care package they would make, and determined that I would get friends together and have a biscotti baking party to prepare and send over.

Here's to safety, at home and overseas, and hoping the power stays on...

Live, from remote Alaska!

Thinking of all of you in the eastern US in the path of winter storm and cold and snow... This weather is wild! A few days ago here in central US it was in the 60's and felt like spring, today 20 degrees with 35 mph winds...Keep warm and safe and put an extra log on the fire...spring is 60 days away! Jenny

The weather is wild here too. The bees keep coming out to seeif spring has arrived. Last week we had 20 degrees for a week with wind chill factor to about10. The week before it had bee in the 50s which got the bees confused so when the deep freeze turned on a lot of them were out and died on top of the snow. Now this week we had 68 degrees and the snow all melted, even on the ski slopes!!! Now we have flooding. Another pineapple express came in on the wind last night and our rivers in jefferson county are on flood warning. Lots of mud slides around here. Last time this happened, downtown quilcene was under about a foot of water for several days. We are on high ground but I am concerned about my pond. Do not want it to collapse.
The wind sounds like a freight train right now.

Thanks Jenny! I just came in from stocking the firewood stand for the fourth time today! It's usually my guys domain(troop fundraiser) but they have gone to the Klondike Derby for scouts in the Pocono Mtns., (PA) and I am worried about them! They were excited about the events today but how much can you do in a blizzard? If we really get as much snow as they are saying (2-3' in a 24 hr. period) they are going to be stranded there probably for an extra day until the roads open up. High adventure for my son, not so much for my husband. And I quote, "If I'm going to be stuck sleeping in the snow, I want a mountain to climb!" (Yes, he's crazy...)We had wacky weather all last week, with one day checking in at 68 ! The good thing was the last of the cold resistant mosquitoes were out and hopefully got zapped with the 40 degree temp plunge that night. I am not too concerned with the mosquito population feeding the bats, we are next to a lake so I'm fairly certain there will be an adequate supply! Stay warm, safe and dry everyone and keep my "polar bears" in your thoughts for a safe journey home (whenever that might be!)

Bramble your boys are going to be true wilderness survivors! Heard the whole northeast is pretty much shut down! Are the Poconos in Penn. or New York? You are one tough mom! Bless you! Keep that wood well stacked! I have been watching CNN and wow it is all white east! So beautiful but can be so dangerous too... DH flies so I am extra worried but am sure he is safe in all this...Just have to think positive...LIke my daddy told me once when times were really hard...Nothing lasts forever... Jenny Just realized Poconos are in Penn. are they really high mountains? Keep snug and safe., as well as your DH and son.

We had the same thing here, 60 degrees one day last week and now a ton of snow and 30 mile an hour winds. It no wonder I have this nasty cold. I love the change in seasons, but I wish the weather would follow it's normal schedule! WInter then Spring....not winter, spring, winter!

Good news, the guys got home safe and sound but certainly had some tales to tell! A 2 1/2 hr drive took 6 1/2 hrs to begin with! The Poconos are in Pennsylvania and they are mountains but not like Colorado or the Sierras. We are buried under about 30" of snow and it's getting ready to snow again tonight! We have dug out and school has reopened but none of the side roads are more than flattened snow
ruts. We lost power very briefly but I had already lit all the oil lamps and felt like I was in another century! We have a woodstove out in the workshop so I had already made that area prepared in case I had to seek refuge there if the heat went out with the power for too long. It surprised me how many of my neighbors were panicked about what to do if we lost power for too long. Most of them have fireplaces! Granted no one wants their house and pipes to freeze up but when it comes to survival, the house can be fixed! Thanks for wishing my guys home safely, the whole group from our district returned home tired and a little worse for the wear, but SAFE!
I am wondering how Cecelia and Alicia (LadyCrystal) are doing, they are north of me (NY and RI) and they supposedly got hit as bad if not worse than us. Our friends in Westerly , RI couldn't get out of their door due to the drifting yeaterday! Stay safe , warm and dry everyone!

Bramble, So happy you have checked in. We all were concerned for your guys! I remember one year when my daughter and her then brand new husband lived in north dakota for a season doing seasonal work at a state park. It snowed so much and the wind drove the snow into such huge drifts that they were snowed into their house litterally. The drifts were above all of the windows and doors of the tiny house. Fortunately the owner had been through something like it before and had installed a door out through the atic. Michael had to go out that little door and shovel down to the door and a couple of the windows. They had snow walls to their house when he got done. It was a bit frightening for Audrey.
