... I think it will be a long and very cold winter... because of the amount of acorns falling onto our roof and yard. THIS is the most I have ever seen since moving here. My entire property is covered with them.. each step I take outside.. crunch crunch under my feet...argh!

I have a feeling that here in SW Louisiana will be another cold winter. We don't usually have much of a winter. Last year, we really had a lot of cold days. There was even snow in north Louisiana. So I am predicting that it will snow in SW Louisiana. My husband doesn't want that to come true, he does not like the snow or the cold weather. But, I sure do!!!

According to the Farmers Almanac this winter across the Canadian Prairies is supposed to be colder and dryer than usual. It already feels chilly out and the scent of snow is in the air.

AnneMarie - I so love the scent of snow in the air. Here in Houston we finally have a day that is not going to make it up to 60 deg. It's 3:37 and the temp is 59. Was windy/cold enough last night that I had to close the windows. It's supposed to be down in the 40s at night for the next few days and sunny in the low-to-mid 70s in the day. Should be very nice and not so HOT!

I predict the CA Sierras will continue to have great snow, and I am so thankful as we have been in a drought the last four years. Weather folks say from now to March we should expect more and more rain and snow upcountry and this has me so giddy. What I love about the snow is how quiet it is when you are outside because snow is like insulation, as it muffles sound. And when the snow is up to the second story windows, its fun to climb out one of the windows and jump off into the snow below. Although we have to make sure there is no snow around the roof vents for gas and and bathrooms or you can end up with an booooom! I like to ponder what it was like for the folks back in the WW2 years and earlier.
