I’ve been connected with Simonga Village in Zambia since I got back from 'Safari' (sorry I just had to say that!) last fall. I was fortunate to spend a little time in the village and met with Principal Chester, of Simonga Basic School, while I was there. We correspond through email and he has told me about their ‘poultry project’ for which I am more than happy to help. Earlier in the year, my friend, Sharon and I made blankets for the village, one family in particular, the mother of which has leprosy and needed blankets for her 9 children. As you may know, shipping is totally prohibitive (everywhere) and it seems wisest to just send money, after spending, well over $100 on shipping last time. So on that note, I made this quilt and decided to auction it off instead.

| Hi Karen, I am new to this board. I got here by searching for Simonga Village in Zambia. I too visited there after going on safari and was also moved by the people there. When we were there the head lady was ill and we were shown around by her grandson. We also visited the school and actually bought some soccer balls for the kids. We would like to continue to help, but I can't seem to locate the principals email address. I was hoping that you had contact information for them, as it seems you are still in touch with him. If possible will you post the contact info here, or I will gladly give you my email address so you can send it to me directly. Thanks so much for your help and the quilt is quite lovely. |

Hi, Janice, welcome to MJ's...you are going to just love it here! A wonderful place to meet with women all over the world who love the idea of being a farmgirl, wherever they live!!! Yes, I will send you Principal Chester's email. The Chief was also ill the day I visited but I had a wonderful visit and tour. When were you there?

| Thanks for the warm welcome Karen. We were there in June of this year and we had an amazing time. We also went to Mombo Camp in Botswana, Vumbura Camp in Okovanga Delta, Toka Leya in Zambia and Mala Mala in South Africa. Where were you and when did you go? |

It truly is an awesome experience! I will never forget it! My brother and his partner won an 'auction' to South Africa (Cape Town and Nyala Game Reserve) and then added other camps, Selinda Camp, Duba Plains (Botswana) and of course, Tongabezi at Livingtone,Zambia. It was the most totally incredible 23 days of my life!
