Bummer.
Just as we are getting ready to go out of town. Sis still has 2 loads to go. Will either have to go to laundromat or wash them when we get to her daughter's house in Fla.
I am hoping it is only a belt as it just won't spin. Guess I'll call the repairman when I get back and pray that it's a cheap fix.
It is about 14 years old so I am probably looking at a new one soon.

Ai yi yi! Why do appliances find the exact wrong time to go out? You know...your hot water heater will wait to go out until you have a houseful of guests...the furnace goes out at night when it's 20 below... I feel for ya! I'm waiting for a fridge to be delivered today after mine went out over a week ago. I think you should just pack up the dirty clothes and do them in Florida. You never know how clean they are going to be if you go to a laundromat. Go, enjoy then deal with it when you get back.

Ours has been throgh 2 minor repairs and just might be on its way out too.
Is yours a front load? Ours is- and during the fast spin cycle, it sounds like there's a huge rock in the tub. It feels like it isn't free floating either.
Hope yours is an easy fix. We might just break down and get a new one. This one is 11 years old. Pathetic considering my mother's lasted nearly 20! |

It used to be a machine would last 20 years. My dad sold them & repaired them. He would even tell people not to take out the extra warrenty as they only put things on that 99% of the time will not break. Now your lucky if they last 10 years and they have more buttons to push which means more to break.

Indeed. And I hate it when everything has a dang computer chip! So when that fails, the whole thing is kaput
I like and prefer push button and manual whenever possible. But too bad these things are disappearng too! |

We finnaly made a decision to just get a new one. Hubby surprized us both yesterday and it's due to be delivered in 2 weeks. OH JOY!
Good news too, it's very similar to the old one, so it will stack and still match the dryer.
I'll still swear by front loaders every time.
Meantime we'll gimp by and do a bit of laundry at work |

My washer died yesterday. I went down to the basement and smelled that horrid electrical burning smell. Hubby checked and sure enough, it was burnt out. 11 years old. It had dh's work clothes in it and full of rinse water. That was not fun emptying.
We ran to the store and bought a front loader. Without the stand (that costs an additional $200.00!  ) I need to buy some HE soap today.
Hope you got yours up and running. We weren't planning on spending that kind of $$ this month with taxes being due. But what can you do?

While we wait for our new machine, I bit the bullet and made a trip to the laundrymat.
You gotta love being able to do 4 loads at 1 time. But its always a craps shoot using machines like this, and sure enough, wouldn't you know, I chose the 1 washer to put all our heavy towels in. When I opened the washer door after the cycle, the towels were still wringing wet!
Can't tell you how many quarters were wasted trying to dry the towels, never mind the rest!
And I should have just taken them home to line dry first? But we live on a dirt road and I havent been able to line dry anything in years! |

I can't believe I'm posting this, but I have a washer and dryer that have been going for 24 years. Recently we've had a few repairs. Managed one ourselves, but called a guy in for another. They both are a little louder than they used to be, but the 30 year old refrigerator needs replacing first! LOL

Ha! Yep! I was getting ready to shampoo my car mats after spending 3 days detailing my SUV and my rug shampooer died! I posted my sorry state before I saw yours...read it and weep! LOL!
