If you haven't heard yet, there's a new book out by Amy Barickman (founder of The Vintage Workshop and Indygo Junction) called Vintage Notions. Sounds like a sewing book, but it's a charming reference with essays, recipes, patterns and projects (with beautiful illustrations) for each month. It's based on the writings of Mary Brooks Picken, one of the first women to elevate the "domestic arts" to more than mere drudgery. MBP also started the first The Women's Institute, a school for the domestic arts in Scranton, PA. I highly recommend you read it or, if you can, buy it.It's a must for every farmgirl! Thanks so much for the info... I love Vintage Workshop and Indygo Junction. Never knew it was from the same person. Going to find more information about Mary Brooks Picken. I'm such a bookworm, Barbara
