that August 26, 2010 was the 90th anniversary of the passage of legislation that gave women the right to vote?

No!!! I had NO idea! And why on earth isn't this a national holiday?! Well, from now on, WE can celebrate!!! I'm marking the calendar and going to plan something fun for next year! Any celebration ideas, girls? Let's start some Farmgirl Suffragette traditions! That's amazing - you would think we would have heard about it on the news! I can't wait to tell my friends! Another reason to get together and celebrate each other and this awesome country! Yay! Thanks for sharing, Lynn! :) - Nini

I agree. I too am disappointed there was nothing, I mean nothing (at least I didn't see it) in the news. Did governors across the US commemorate August 26 as the Illinois governor did? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Highlights State Laws that Protect Women from Gender-Based Discrimination CHICAGO – August 26, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today joined women leaders from across Illinois to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the passage of legislation that gave women the right to vote. During a ceremony at the James R. Thompson Center, Governor Quinn proclaimed today as Women’s Equality Day in Illinois, and highlighted the state’s efforts to combat gender-based discrimination and to protect women’s rights to equal pay for equal work.

Wow, that is crazy. It's amazing that though our country has been around for over 200 years, women haven't had the same rights as men for half of that time. God's Blessings, Megan aka Loretta Rae
