anybody else have chest pain after they eat ? I've had a couple of bouts of pancreatitis a few years ago and wonder if this is part of that or maybe gastric reflux or heartburn ? any thoughts ?

Patricia, you may want to see your doctor to make sure it is nothing serious. I drink a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar (you need the kind that has the "mother" in it) in a cold glass of water every day. It takes care of any upset stomach issues along with a host of other good stuff for your body. Best of luck finding out what is the cause.

I use dry oatmeal for heartburn. I grab a handful and chew on it with a glass of water to wash it down. I usually feel better in about 15-20 minutes.

Candied ginger is my Tums. Works everytime, and it's a little like having a piece of candy.

I had chronic heartburn until I was diagnosed with an allergy to gluten. You might want to check into food allergies.

I started making my own yogurt and kefir and got the extra bonus of realizing that it helps my heartburn tremendously. I have some kefir right before bed and I don't wake up anymore with the awful pain.

It is similar to yogurt but a bit thinner and drinkable.

Your digestive system needs a certain amount of "acids" to help process (break down your food), but reflux can shoot back up & burn the throat (esophogus) & give a burning sensation in the chest. From what I've read, try *not* drinking during your meal, so your acids don't get diluted with water and can help process your food better. Take a daily probiotic (similar to the suggestions above re: adding yogurt/kefir for the live cultures/adding healthy bacteria into your system. Stay away from antacids (see sentence #1). Sleep with your bedframe at a slight incline so your head is raised. And yes, look into food allergies. I hope you find some relief

I did the apple cider vinegar thing once. It about killed me. I am one of the people who produce too much acid. I have had my gallbladder out and mow bile can back up into the tummy. Try things slowly. Raw potato helped me as did munching on raw almonds, celery and sucking raisins. The idea is to get the acid going back down with saliva which is also beneficial. Are you sitting up with good posture. That gets me too if I slouch. Good luck. I have suffered with gastritis for a long while and its finally on the mend, for which I am so happy!
