Hi girls,
i had a couple of my older singers serviced. one was my 1970 singer touch and sew. I asked the guy if he 'tested' them after servicing them by sewing to make sure they worked, and he said he did. he even left the fabric under the presser foot to prove they were tested.
i even tested the machines when i got home and they both ran like new, sewing nice stitches. SO, when i went to actually sew on the 'touch and sew' yesterday, it would not create ANY stitches! I am VERY confused by this.Of course i have a 90 day warranty and i am going to bring it back. WHAT possibly could of happened?
The needle is in right, the tension all seems ok, it makes no sense to me. No one touched it after i brought it home. The other 1951 singer works like brand new.
any ideas?
thanks connie

OKAY, i am officially a nit wit! my machine in fine. i own 4 singers and i will tell you that none work the same! the slide plate in my touch and sew needs a screwdriver to 'engage it' otherwise it will just fall off. After FINALLY realizing that the bobbin case was not fully 'locked in' ...my problem was solved.
I can only think that it happened after i got the machine back from servicing- was reading through the manual and finally figured out how the slide plate went on- so i was playing around with that. I guess i didn't realize that by doing that, i moved this thing that holds down the bobbin case.
SIGH
problem solved.
I can only laugh at myself. connie

Such a good thing to be able to laugh at ourselves!!! Good for you for figuring it out, Connie!! I was going to suggest the needle being threaded. Forgetting to do that is something I've done before and it's taken me a bit to figure out what the heck was wrong!!
