I am in desperate need of canning jars and they are soooo expensive. I have tried craigslist, freecycle, ect. Any other suggests from the farmgirl troop would be great. I will buy new if I can find some decent pricing!!!

Wallmart has the best price around here. I always check thrift stores too. Are there any older folks around where you live I know my ML had tons and does not can any more. I should get to selling them for her.

I like goodwill and places like it. Also think about puttin a notice up at your church that you're lookin. If they don't have any they might know someone who does. Also check yard sales. I know people who have put adds in the 'want to buy' section of the local paper.

The local feed store and other "bulletin boards." Put up notices with a phone number to call. I have been hitting yard sales weekly and try to ONLY ask for jars and not look at other goodies. DH figured out the cost savings by buying used vs new. Depending on the pricing in your area, sometimes it's cheaper to buy new with the lids and rings. Typically I won't pay over 45 cents for quarts and 25 cents for pints for used. I am going to put an ad in the paper next payday in the wanted section. Plus I have been telling everyone I know that I am looking for jars and willing to barter for them.

Plus, it is canning season, so watch the sales. Walmart hasn't been the cheapest lately. Fred Meyer had them on sale and Winco is the cheapest on a daily basis for my area.

Do what you love, love what you do.

Try estate sales. I have gotten several cases of jars for next to nothing at them.

I find them at thrift store too!

Appreciate the little things, for they are not really that little.

Tammy, do you have a Craigslist in your area? I find many jars on there. www.craigslist.org Once you find one in your area, do a search for canning jars.
