We spent the weekend at Mackinac Island, Michigan to see the sights and to check out Little Luxuries a very quaint cottage shabby chic shop where my handcrafted soap and linen water is currently being sold this season. I was finally able to meet the owner Nicole who is a very sweet young woman I have had the pleasure to know and to love!

That first picture is The Mighty Mac bridge--a little blustery going home this afternoon as the wind was "whipping" off the bay. The scenery is breathtaking!

The weekend was WARM but the skies were sunny and blue and a grand time was had by all!

Betty Jo...Next time you are on the island stop off at Little Luxuries on Main!

That's where I sell some of my handcrafted soap----and linen water. It's a darling little shop.

I haven't been to the island in over 20-years so it was like coming home to the island this past weekend-I did not want to leave!!

I sure do miss Michigan..haven't been to Mackinac since 1991. There is a picture of me somewhere in my albums, kissing a horse from one of the carriages. I went to school at Interlochen, and this one of our favorite get aways. Thanks for posting--just reminds me that there's one more place I need to take my husband!

The Mighty Mac is my favorite land mark in Michigan. When we head up there the first thing we do is cross the bridge...and turn around and cross the bridge again:-). The views are so stunning. I have always wanted to walk the bridge Labor Day but my husband does NOT like crowds. Melody, thank you for sharing your pictures - first one is lovely. I am glad you were able to see where your products are sold...I bet that was special. Have a good day!

I want to go so bad. But is there not a gaurd rail on that bridge? I might have to take a boat over there. It looks like those cars are right on the top of it. And how long is it? Do they have boat rides to the island? It is a beautiful place and the sky is so blue. That must have been fun to be able to go to the place where your things are. I am so glad you had a good time. I love Michigan and want ot go back some day. I would love to live there.

So absolutely beautiful! "Somewhere In Time". Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing with us. Visiting Mackinac Island is on our list of things to do.

Thanks for the pictures Melody. They were beautiful and takes me back 8 years ago when we stayed there a few years ago on our honeymoon. We drove around Lake MI and took 3 days to spend on the island. Since it was October the scenery was even more breathtaking. We can't wait to go back some day!

The Mighty Mac is the worlds longest suspension bridge 5-miles! Several campers and RV's were waiting patiently for "escort" across the bridge on the way home yesterday as it was quite windy and the bridge had speed restrictions.

On the mainland they have several ferry boats criss crossing the lake to and from the island and oh my goodness-It is very busy during the summer. I too would love to just once, go to the island during the fall season to see the colors although you can't beat the color of the lake during a warm summer day!

This was Elli's first time on the island and he just loved the fort above the cliffs, the bicycle ride with his dad and the horse drawn carriages (no cars are allowed on the island) and Oh yeah....the Island Fudge shops that abound on Main Street!!
