I have some of these bowl covers and love them, bought them because I remembered my mom using them and thought they would be a good "green" item for the kitchen. Bought them from the Vermont Country Store website. Kathy |

I use pyrex bowls that come with lids, and if I am covering up something like a dinner plate or rising bread dough, I put a tea towel over it. I never use plastic wrap or foil.

I love those bowl covers! Kristina I don't know if you have Dollar General stores in Ohio, but that's where I buy mine. They work great, but I will admit dont' last forever, I am going to check out the ones at Vermont Country store. I also use bowls with plates as covers, especially for salads. It also makes it possible to put something else on top of that if I need more room in the fridge.

I use all of the above and waxed paper bags. I love my bowl covers; we always called them shower caps for bowls. I buy mine at the local health food store -- they are quite cheap. I have bought some for my son's new apartment -- sending off a care package. Suzanne |

You can purchase "processing caps" for hair dye/straightening/permanents at drugstores or big box stores in the hair products department. These are thinner but work well as bowl covers and are really inexpensive. Shower caps also work well as bowl covers. |

unbleached waxed paper with a rubber band works well, too. Sometimes just a plate over a bowl. If it's produce, I've used my flour sack dish towel, too.

Most of the time, I just use a plain old tea towel or cover the bowl with an appropriate sized dish, depeding upon what's inside. The tea towel seems to help certain foods "breathe" in the fridge while keeping down moisture. The dish cover is great, too - especially if you're storing something moist like potato salad; it's also the perfect cover choice when you want to "stack" other bowls or items on top of it in the fridge; and you can use it as a loose cover in the microwave, too! :) - Nini

I have been investing in tupperware for years and have quite a collection. I buy most of mine in second hand shops and at yard sales, but some is new.

I mainly do as was said and use pyrex with lids.
However, I have bought both from Lehman's and from Dollar General (the shower cap things for bowls! lol) and they were the exact same! So I wouldn't spend more money on them from Vermont country store as like I said I have both and they are EXACTLY the same! I bet they are made by the same company, and come from the same place.

Sometimes I just use kitchen towels or plates over bowls. You can make your own bowl covers with fabric and elastic. Warm wishes, Tonya - Homesteading, Homemaking Mom of 6 http://plainandjoyfulliving.blogspot.com |
