I recently started drinking it but I don;t know much about it, other than it's hard to get around here. Also expensive.

I have had my kefir grains since March. I don't really know a whole lot about them but I do know kefir is full of all kinds of good stuff. Way better for you than just yogurt. If you google Dom's kefir, you will learn all you need to know about it. He is the kefir king.

I drink it plain most every night and make smoothies during the day. I use it like buttermilk. It's really good. And aids in digestion. There is also water kefir. I'd like to try that also.

You could also go to www.pocketsofthefuture.com. They sell grains. Really pretty easy to do. And they grow really fast too.

Kefir is wonderful ... especially helpful to balance the good probiotics in your gut. Fermented foods are some of the healthiest foods you can eat (kefir, yogurt, sauerkraut, some cheeses). It takes awhile sometimes to see all the benefits so keep drinking it.

I'd like to know more about this too..
We have kefir yogurt here, it's really easy to find. I'm not sure what people mean though when they talk about "drinking" kefir. Are we talking about the same thing?

I have quite a bit of kefir grains if anyone needs some. Mine are growing like crazy these days. I have to separate about every few days now. I am just asking for shipping and maybe a few extra dollars for a donation. All I have read says we shouldn't sell grains but if you want to ask for a donation that's ok. So I am. Right now I have 6 cups each with grains in each one. I do use goat milk though.

You can use any milk really except ultra pasturized. I use raw goat milk. It's very east to do. Just strain the grains through a seive and add more milk to the grains. Refrigerate the kefir that was strained off and drink. It can be used just like buttermilk. I drink it plain or as a smoothie.

If anyone is interested please let me know. I think the little flat rate box at the PO is $4.95. I could use that if it's too far away.
