I made one of these tonight. I crocheted it in about an hour.

When it gets dirty, turn it inside out and use the other side....then, toss it in the wash and re-use it. viola!

Free Pattern is on my Knitting Blog here:

I have knitted several and I love them! They pick up so much more than the swiffer sheets, and less wasteful!

Peg, this is so, so cool!!! I just wish I could remember how to crochet and knit from when I was a little girl!!! I went to your link and was lost at the first stitch! I want to make them - it's definitely time to re-learn! Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing! - Nini

What a great idea---those swifter pads are expensive (we have wood floors throughout this barn of a house) so we go through a lot of those!

Merry....Please post the knitted pattern here-I would love to be able to knit my own-

I just knitted across several inches longer and about an inch wider than than my swiffer, then folded the ends over and sewed them to make the pockets to insert the swiffer head.
When I crocheted them, I crocheted long lengthwise to make channels to catch the dirt as I pushed them along.

I can't wait to get started on mine-All cotton yarn for me as I knit washcloths to include with my handcrafted soap gift boxes!

Thanks for the great idea Peg!

Great idea! I have been trying to do small crochet projects to get "back in the swing" of things. this is a perfect project. I crocheted a dish cloth yesterday.

Just finished my first one, then used it on a freshly vacuumed floor (or at least I thought it was!) Couldn't believe the extra dust and dog hair it picked up. I'm giving these babies for Christmas stocking stuffers!

You can also use fleece fabric to make these - the polyester fleece really seems to grab the dust with static cling.

I also made one with yarn that I used my rug hooking tool to make fringy pieces to catch more dust and dirt. It works pretty good.
