Hello, I am soo glad I came across this forum! I was led to it in search of the new magazine, Junk Market Style. I love "junk" and have been decorating with it for about 7 years now. No one understood what I was doing at first but now, so many more people decorate in that style. I don't like saying shabby c..., I call it cottage, paris, garden, flea market and yes, junk. I believe it is soo wonderful!! I would never trade in my old furniture for something from a showroom. That's me, everyone else can do what they like. I have been married a little over one year, I love my husband and I know he loves me too. It takes a special man to understand me. Anyhow, I also love to make soap. That is one of my favorite passions. But, I also like to sew using vintage textiles. When I have the time I make all kinds of goodies, like totes. I also teach jewelry making, bead jewelry and pearl knotting. Oh yes, I also like to cook and bake. All of that keeps me fairly busy. I look forward chatting and making new friends!

Hi Janet, wow you sure keep busy!! You sound like a very talented person, wish I was!! I like "junk" too............ although some of my furniture was new once and my son's cat has now made it shabby!! I also make soap, but having a hard time finding lye......
Anyway, welcome to the site, you will love it here.
best wishes ...Georgette

Hi Janet,
Wow - we like a lot of the same things! But so do most of us here. Welcome. Wish I was closer. Would love to take a jewelry making class.

Welcome Janet! You will really enjoy this forum - lots of great gals here. Be sure to get in on our teacup/saucer exchange and the Collector's Treasure Chest forum so we can all send eachother gifts. I love the junque market style too - we have a flea market shop that is filled with mostly curb-side finds - I always get first dibbs on what stays and what goes. Hubby is out trashing tonight - it is like waiting for Santa to walk through the door. I sell a lot of the stuff on Ebay too for extra money. How did you get started making soap? I still have a rebatch kit I never got around to yet. What scents do you make? Do you know there is a forum on here to sell your items? Check it out! Welcome!

Yes, I will be sure to go through my teacup/saucers. I have so many I don't display or use. An exchange sounds great! I will look up the Collector's Treasure Chest forum, I love getting stuff in the mail. This past Sunday I passed by a chest of drawers with a sign that said "free." It took so much for me not to turn around and put it in the trunk of my car. I don't think it would've fit in my Ford sedan, oh well. I used to have an suv and always picked up stuff off the side of the road. Nothing like a little bit of paint to freshen up something old. I started making soap about 5 years ago. I use all kinds of scents. I love the way the smell!! Thanks for all of the info Kathy!
