Please keep the families in your prayers, who have lost everything, their homes, pets, livestock and more in the wildfires here in So. Cal. Also remember the men and women who are wildland firefighters, and risk their lives to protect the property in these wildfires. My middle son is a wildlands firefighter, and he and his chainsaw crew are here at these fires, working with little to no sleep to try and stop theses monsters before they destroy any more...

My middle son is also Roger's Daddy, my G/son who's dog was killed a few days ago, so it makes things alittle tuffer for them right...him being gone at this time, and risking his life for others, please pray for him, alittle extra, thanks...

Prayers on the way. Especially for your son and your family. We are a structural firefighter family with one wildlander, so my heart and prayers go out to those who are fighting to save things for others. My heart is always on high alert when one of my kids are out on a fire. I don't have time to worry about myself when I'm out! =)

Do what you love, love what you do.

Prayers sent this morning watching the news, I cannot imagine what those people are going through. And special prayers for all the fire fighters, Carol

Prayers are sent. Every time I see those awful fires my heart breaks, for the people the animals and for nature itself. I think so much about the firefighters trying to put out something that is so unstoppable. I pray he returns safely to all of you.

Teresa, I was wondering about you, aren't you in Kern Co.? Are the fires close to you?? (I should just look at a map!!). Prayers go out to your son and his crew. Those guys do a terrific job, on little or no sleep. I commend them every time I hear of a wildland fire on the news. It's brutal work with a wonderful adrenaline rush....Pete and I were both wildland/structure/EMS in central Oregon. Also, prayers for your little grandguy, he's probably having a pretty rough time of it too.

Suzie, I am in the most northern part of Los Angeles county, but I am right at the Kern county line. The Tehatchapi fire is about 35 miles north of me as the crow flies, and is moving at a south/east direction, which is away from me.

35 miles away is still too close to home!! I'll keep my fingers crossed the wind doesn't change and it keeps heading away from you and your family. Is the smoke blowing away from you also?? Hope your son is faring well doing the job he's doing. Those guys just don't get enough credit. One time when we were released from a wildland fire, when leaving the town, etc. that we were protecting, all the townspeople lined the streets with thank you signs, and cheered us....boy did that make the tears come to your eyes. I hope your son gets to experience at least a little of that sometime in his career!!!

Suzie, smoke is going away from me also, and yes my son's crew has had the thank you signs and people wanting to hug them, giving them food and drink, wanting to take their pictures, etc. My son is way to humble to accept much of anything other than maybe water.

He's gotta be quite a guy. Didn't sound like things were easing up any when I saw the news tonight, hope he's getting a little rest and keeping his energy level up. If he's eating at fire camp that will keep him going....used to be the best food!!

Suzie, no its not easing up, we have more fires that have broke out much closer to me, lots of smoke and its raining ash. Its in an area that is canyons and hills/mountains all at the same time. Last night it looked like lava flowing, not a good feeling at all.
Yes, he is eating at fire camp, if I remember correctly, lots and lots of carbs, but even with that, he usually loses 40 plus pounds during fire season (he is 6'5, 245 lbs), and as he puts it, he eats everything in sight, and goes into hibranation for the winter, so he has all of his weight back by next fire season, lol.

I have been praying for your family and all in the area. We had a huge firestorm here about 12 years ago so I know how awful it can be. I have been watching on the news. Hope all is well.

Blessings, Sheri

Teresa, I guess all of us have you on our minds, hope things have settled a little bit by this evening, I didn't see any news tonight, but praying things are a little better. Hope you're getting some rest. Keeping all of you and your "fire fightin' son" in my prayers as well, keep us posted if possible.

firefighters are getting some containment now, it has burned into an unpopulated area, and is starting to back burn into itself, which means no fuel, so all of your prayers helped, thank you. As far as my son goes, no news is good news, I'm sure I will talk to him when hes rested and has a day or so of down time.
