Sunday the 11th was one year in Texas for me. It has been a mixed year.

I still have alot of homesickness. I still am not meeting people. But I can get around fairly well and am not as nervous with the highway driving.

Please pray for me. So many things need to get worked out.

Amy,
You will be in my thoughts. It is so hard to move to new places, but you know you have friends here at the Farm. Not the same as sitting down with someone though.
Many Blessings,
Rebecca

Amy I understand. It took me a long while to really get around here in Georgia too. It was just so different from what I was used to. Hang in there. ((HUGS))

I'm praying for you! And if you need a road trip to get a hug from another farm girl, just email me. I'm about 4 or so hours northeast of you in Ringgold, LA. Come sit in my kitchen for a spell and I'll spoil you a little bit!

Give it time. You will find friends. In mean time, I will be praying for you.

Amy, we are all her for you. I wish we lived closer together. I have only one nonfamily friend and only see her at church. I understand how hard it is to meet people. I will pray for you.

Hi Amy
I know it is hard to meet people in a big old place like Houston! I used to live in Sugarland outside of Houston (course you can't tell when you leave one city and get to the next one) I'm in Texas but about 8 hours from you so that doesn't help much, but your in my thoughts and prayers.

I heard that Sugarland is really nice. Been by it on the way to San Antonio.

I guess what is bothering me most is no one seems to crochet, bake, needlework, garden, etc. I know we live in a pretty urban area. But at least in Warren (where we lived in Ohio) people did these kinds of things.

I feel like a fish out of water.

People aren't really super friendly either.

have you tried looking up any local crocheting groups on the web? I think there's a site called "meet-up" or something like that and they list groups according to interest & area so you can get together in person. Lived in Houston on 2 different occasions, and I know where you're coming from. (nothin personal against Houston-just wasn't the place for me)

I agree- check out Meetup.com to see if there is a charity crafting/ sewing/ crochet group. That is a great place to meet caring folks. Of course, there are groups that do needlework/ fiber arts that just meet for fun. I posted an idea for working on the million pillowcase challenge at my charity Meetup. I should say, hubby is only home on Sundays, and they meet Sundays, so I never get to go, wah! But I am a member. Anyway, just by posting an idea about something to do, a neighbor I have not met yet, in the same Meetup, is coming over today to get started on pillowcases!!!!!
I'm in a safe area, so I feel fine about an approved member of an established group coming to visit. But the magic is there, no matter where you live, when you find the right group. The neighbor is inviting me to a Monday sewing group, too!
I moved to TX a year ago also. The overpasses and " loops' drive me crazy when I'm in Austin, never mind Houston!!
I'm 2 1/2 hrs from you, most likely. Give me a yell if you ever feel like coming this way!
