Hi ladies! Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how many different nationalities are represented here on the forum. For me, I'm Italian/Sicilian, Polish, and Irish. What about you? God's Blessings, Megan aka Loretta Rae

Solid Irish, straight from Ireland to Canada on my Mom's side. On my Dad's Scot, English and a wee bit of dutch. Isn't it great all the different nationalities that make us all so unique? I love it.

I've noticed in recent years how few people even know their heritage anymore! I'm Norwegian, Danish, German and Welsh. I'm 3rd generation American on both sides. This is fascinating! We represent a lot of diversity here.

French and Ukrainian. My mom's side came to Canada when it was first being settled by the French and my dad's parents immigrated with their families from Europe in the early 1900's.

This is really interesting! Susan, I agree. I think that a lot of people are so mixed nowadays that they don't know what mixture they are. But I think it's really important to know where you come from and what your roots are. On my Dad's side I'm am third generation from his Mom and on my Mom's side I'm third generation from my Grandpa. I am second generation Russian married to a second generation Italian. We can really get loud in this house. Your right Susan, people just don't know their heritage anymore. I think because so many people are mixed heritage it is not a big deal anymore. But growing up that is all we heard. It was a big deal. And my Father never wanted me to marry an Italian(even before I met my husband). Well look what happened. Never tell someone not to do it :) But my Dad loved my husband but those old world ways of thinking were very ingrained in my parents. Jane

100 % Italian on my dad's side. My grandparents all came straight from Italy. My mom's father came from a prominent Scottish family that helped to settle part of upstate NY, and his mother was from a prominent German family that went from here to Canada during the American Revolution. My mom's mother was mostly English with several Revolutionary war heroes in her background. I'm sure it was a rude awakening for her when she was doing our family genealogy in the 60's and discovered that her and her husbands family fought on opposite sides of the war, lol! So many of us are Irish or Scottish here!

I am 1/4 Native American (Cherokee on both sides and Choctaw as well on my dad's side) A little bit of alot of other stuff..French, Scottish, Irish and Portuguese way back. People have always asked if I am Greek or Italian so that is what THIS mix looks like..haha. My family is American 6 generations back on my mom's side and as far back as I could get (4 generations) on my dad's side. All from the south...and my 4 grandparents all ended up migrating to Calif during the depression with their families..where they met and married and raised their own families.

Debbie... I luv it..."Mutts" and we make the best kind of Americans! I was born in Germany to a German mom...We came to the USA when I was 3 and mama got her Citizenship & I Naturalization...long story. Daddy (not biolgical) is pure Mississippian with some English heritage. We would have some of the BEST meals, and yes, I do like SPAM & Chitlains with a side of Schnitzle & Speztle! lol!

My dad is full Swede and my mom is English/Irish with a little bit of something else. In a way it is sad to see the nationalities become so diluted. I am 1/2 Swede, my grandkids hardly have any Swede now. Maybe in the long run it is better if our future generations are diluted and everyone becomes a mixture. It may take care of some the prejudices and social issues. I would be for that. |

I am a third generation Irish on my Dad's side and German on my Mom's side. Growing up my Dad instilled the Irish heritage in us and it has stuck with me and my children. Very proud of my Irish background and not afraid to show it.
