Has anyone ever built one? My husband and I want to build one when we get our own house. I want it to be at an end of a patio so we can light a fire if we want on chill fall mornings/evenings or sit at the other end when cooking is being done during the summer!

I found this article in Mother Earth News and it looks great!

What do you ladies think?

Alee, I would love to get my husband to build this too. I think it would be a great addition to the patio.

We looked extensively into an outdoor brick oven for some time. I have every book on the subject and saw those plans in M.E.N. Once we factored in the cost of materials (he is very wrong on the cost in that article) and the amount of time needed to build, we purchased a precast model. I even found a brick layer who would build one but the cost was still up there. I bought a Forno Bravo beehive brick oven and I love it. The deciding factor on the one we bought it that is can be moved if need be. It may take 4 men and a forklift, but it can be moved if we decided to put it somewhere else. I use it all the time especially with the heat. I bake bread to sell and many meals come from the oven. And the pizza is out of this world. Plus it put us one step further off the grid.
